Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Here's another Siamese (but not a Sistah I think).

Never underestimate the power of traction!

Good heavens! Pardon the images that come up after it plays. Perhaps I should remove it?

that's a funny vid clip! it's not like we have control over what youtube pops up after. I would not worry about it. it's not terrible.

Cheddar Cheese is still completely wiped out from last nights excursion! he was so tired this morning, he could barely make it to the water dish. so I put it in between his paws, he drank a lot! I made him scrambled eggs for breakfast to give him some good sustenance. now I'm home from work, he is still curled up on the floor, zonked! I didn't find any ticks either. I'll keep checking tho', we do have Lyme ticks here now, and those are so very tiny... My Sweetie was kicking himself for letting him get away (and frankly, I could have kicked him too, but I got over it really fast) he doesn't know Chester like I do and he's not paid much attention to the fact that I never take him off his leash until we are inside and the door is closed.

I had to go C shopping before coming home. seriously. C shopping.
Chicken (feed), Cat (food), Cat (litter), Cleaing (supplies), Coffee Creamer and Candy.

I was hoping to have some free range time, it's quite warm out - somewhere in the 60's I think. my thermometer blew off the tree overnight, so it's in the mud room. I haven't check the wunderground.com page yet. but it's really overcast and looks like rain.

now I don't have an excuse to use to avoid cleaning the house.

You need to stay on here, and research a few breeds Then you need to get supper ready. Then you simply must read to the animals. And doesn't that show you like to watch air tonight?

One, one today we laid one! Well actually we've laid 4 so far today but one was IN the nest box!!!!!

Poor Chester!!! Tho it was probably some good exercise! And at least sweetie recognizes the mistake... We all do stupid stuff!!! I always say it's how you act after that shows true character!

I can't say if I will keep a pair. The benefits are that I already have the chicks, and they will be laying this year. I would keep them in a mini coop to keep the breed pure. Not that there are any standards to worry about! How do you know if they are bred with like a Silkie or bantam of some kind?
Anyway, I was thinking that if I just wait a year, I can get some eggs next year. Free. The reason for not jumping at this is because I want to cut back on my flock this year ( I did have plans to hatch a few chicks next spring to keep me in eggs), and I am raising turkeys now. I am not saying it is "too much" so much as "why?" I don't want (more than any of us. We all like getting more chickens!) more chickens, and I am a terrible seller.
I think I just confused everyone again. Sorry.

I understand perfectly, MC. You want more but you don't need more. At least not right now. Maybe next week.

It's the impulse buying/hatching that causes so much trouble. I love these goofy little Cochins so much I was tempted to get a bunch of eggs to hatch from the breeder. Slowed myself down a bit because I want to see how they manage here during the summer. I like self sufficient chickens, so we'll see how much extra work these sweeties are before I succumb to chicken math. Oh yeah, I also don't have an incubator.

Still waiting on a broody!

oh yes, you're quite right!!! all those are very valid plus, it's Friday - Grimm tonight! and I cleaned the bathroom - tried "The Works" product, probably really bad for the environment, but I wanted something that would work without killing my elbows and back... and it did. s'all sparkly in there.

and.... drum roll please..... Sillie Silkie Soo laid her first real egg with a shell today!!!!!!! it's so stinkin' cute! pale cream, and one of the Marans laid a funky speckled egg. I have pics of both, to upload later...

you know that painful ankle sensation that you can experience when stepping off a curb? that separation thing... micro tear of muscle fiber... got it. and not just once. every stinkin' step unless I walk on the inside of my foot, which makes my knee hurt.

Too bad you don't have a Chester Cam. It would be fun to see where he went and how far. Bet it was miles! I've always wanted to see what their reaction is when they catch up to the quarry. What do they do when the chase is over? I saw my dog get struck by a doe one night, and she wasn't even chasing it, just coming down to meet me at the gate. In the car headlights it looked like the dog had been slashed from her shoulder all the way down her side. I was horrified! Luckily, it was just a stripe of mud.

Being so tired shows what a good instinct he has to come home. Must have been tempting to want to stop and nap!

Oooo, I like Grimm too! My hubs thinks it's creepy and won't watch. Usually I won't watch scary stuff (never horror movies

) but Grimm is kind of like the old Frankenstein movies, too far from reality to be really scary.

Well my day if firsts (first egg in nest, first egg outside run) continues!!!! I just got my first soft shelled egg. Can't wait to see who the new layer is!!!!
