Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Thank you for the very warm welcome! I tend to do things a bit backwards lol.. I bought 2 "pullet Partridge Plymouth Rocks- I'm interested in your opinions on those two" "girls" and had them in a brooder in a city with zero zoning for chickens *note, we were moving to a chicken friendly city before they would need a coop, after moving I was given two laying hens ( Lacy and Ninja : I'll let you guess who's who ) which I had in diapers in my house (good way to encourage DH to build a pen

lol). Once Lacy and Ninja were in their pen, I acquired

three 8wk then now 10-11wk hens lol... I sure do love my chicky-babies!
You are worried one of your partridge Rock pullets isn't a pullet? The one with the bigger comb also has a slightly different pattern, so it may be a throw back or something. The comb isn't that big and a cockerel would be getting really different colored plumage even at a young age, so I think you are safe, but I'm not too familiar with this variety. Does Ninja lay blue/green eggs?

It's a cute group and good to have the ages staggered. When the two older hens slow down production, the youngsters will keep you in eggs (until you can get more chickens!!!). There's no use fighting it. It will happen.

I think the Partridge Rocks are girls too. it would be interesting to see the questionable one from the profile, but still, the comb is small despite being larger than her mates. she would likely lay first...they're all very pretty!

Oh good I hope he's a she! Lol "he" is my daughters lol! Shhhh don't tell my DH " it will happen" he already thinks I have enough chickens ( says the man who feeds them treats through the pen ) lmao!!

It can happen...my husband was dead set against my chickens and I got them anyway. Our legal limit is 4 and HE was the one who suggested we keep 6 instead. I about died. If it can be done to him, it can be done to anyone.

I hope your right, you should see his face light up when there is an egg in the nest boxes he built!
