You are worried one of your partridge Rock pullets isn't a pullet? The one with the bigger comb also has a slightly different pattern, so it may be a throw back or something. The comb isn't that big and a cockerel would be getting really different colored plumage even at a young age, so I think you are safe, but I'm not too familiar with this variety. Does Ninja lay blue/green eggs?Thank you for the very warm welcome! I tend to do things a bit backwards lol.. I bought 2 "pullet Partridge Plymouth Rocks- I'm interested in your opinions on those two" "girls"and had them in a brooder in a city with zero zoning for chickens *note, we were moving to a chicken friendly city before they would need a coop, after moving I was given two laying hens ( Lacy and Ninja : I'll let you guess who's who )
which I had in diapers in my house (good way to encourage DH to build a pen
lol). Once Lacy and Ninja were in their pen, I acquired
three 8wk then now 10-11wk hens lol...![]()
I sure do love my chicky-babies!
It's a cute group and good to have the ages staggered. When the two older hens slow down production, the youngsters will keep you in eggs (until you can get more chickens!!!). There's no use fighting it. It will happen.
