the last couple of days were kind of stressful. I had company who should have been very comfortable and relaxed, but he wasn't into the chickens and wanted me to magicallly whip up a poop free zone. I don't have portable fences... how else to keep them out of an area without traumatizing them rattling noisy things and chasing them? I won't do that, he tried to and I put a stop to it. I have a very mellow flock. don't be freaking out the chickens!
and don't expect me not to free range them on a gorgeous afternoon - or all day if it's my day off! eh, he's family, and claims to be a country boy... I laughed at him and told him to go back to the city if he couldn't deal with chicken poop. or go get the hose and quit yer whinin'! big baby wouldn't come outside for the rest of the afternoon. made for a bit of tension in the evening... but I had a blast out with my babies!
these are from yesterday.
Consider yourselves smiled at by Summer.

with Sillie Gossamer away to brood, Red can always attract Cochin Zira. always.

I consented to leave the homestead to go flea marketing. literally tons of junk and 2 really nice baskets. this is one of them. the other basket is larger, brown, longer and deeper - perfect for flowers with long stems... and chicks. I haven't taken a picture of it yet.

these 2 have quite the romance going. and she's a great layer after all... Peach is sitting on one of her eggs.

now this one. omg. Roger would be very proud. Wilma stalked me for my cookie. got in my lap, got in my face and stole it right out of my fingers! Mylee did better than me at age 3 - remember the photos of her holding her watermelon over her head? Wilma didn't get any...she got half of my expensive little cookie! -

Today

looks who's all turkey-fied again...maybe she'll have staying power if she decides to brood - she didn't make 3 whole days last time.

Sillie won't eat from my hand, but she ate what I put in front of her. blueberries, small sliced apple bits and sliced grapes

Peach... scarfed em all! they have a nice bowl to help themselves from as they please.

the cookie thief is ready to burst and she's still eating!
