Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

After reading some articles and some youtube videos, I figured out I was feeling around in the wrong place, I was feeling the keel bone, which is also too to be pointing down but I found the pelvic bones and they're only about a finger apart on the two birds that I checked. Oh well.

I'm not going to bother with that anymore, I'll just watch for the squat.

I found the best method to determine if someone was laying was finding an egg.

No, I read the article. I am not opposed to it but I haven't gotten around to it and honestly at this stage in the game i don't think it's going to make a huge difference. I will probably try it but I don't think it's going to hurry them along...it's not like they're really old. They're not even 15 wks yet.

Holy Moly Holm! that's a whole lotta chicks!!! awesome photos and I'm so jealous... I wanted to quote so I could be specific about some pics but I can't and I also wanted to put the smiley with the hearts... but I can't do that either. anyway, love them!

oh, hahaha! I thought they were 18 +!
It does make a huge difference. Ask the people who get birds from me and come back a few weeks later and can't believe their birds came from the same place as the ones I still have!

I am sure it makes a difference and I do want to try it I just think they will lay when they lay (and I will be ultra hyper-vigilant about it lol. I wish I had managed to hold off another couple weeksbecause I can tell they're not close. Brats. Driving me crazy since they were eggs. A refresher for those who are new- I thought I killed them a time or two and drove the folks here nuts with my hand wringing and whatnot. For all of your sakes I hope one goes at 16 weeks so I can quiet down.

mortie, we're no different. revisit the beginning of the thread! the whole thing is fun and exciting and full of hand wringing, second guessing and whatnot. enjoy the ride...

I had to go out at around 8:30 because the rain was so bad. I had to push water off the "roof" of the Fosters pen. I really need to do something about that cruddy roof... and Esther was back up and on the roost. looks like it's a broody breaker for her just to be in that pen. anyway, I am not going to have her disrupting the other 2, so I put her on the roost in the Dome, and took the eggs back. she'll brood someday. and she laid an egg, the 4 standard plus her itty bitty egg... finished the day with a total of 20 today. I have an order for four dozen for Friday, after I delivered 1 dozen today - I've still got just enough, hoping to have at least one more day to collect more before anyone else orders... I haven't had to tell anyone I don't have enough since the end of short days! I do regret giving up those 4 Fosters - I notice the difference in #'s... they were so consistent.
