Stew pot. A cock that kills chicks isn't an asset!
oh, sorry. That's a shame. It takes time with them, and you're bound to lose some birds.Ratchet is my kids' blue heeler pup.

And the stew pot wouldn't work why?

OK started this thread, and I was thinking, "Boy, I have a 16-wk-old, and I am not expecting an egg for another 2-4 weeks!" Half an hour later, I brought in my first egg. I felt guilty!I am sure it makes a difference and I do want to try it I just think they will lay when they lay (and I will be ultra hyper-vigilant about it lol. I wish I had managed to hold off another couple weeksbecause I can tell they're not close. Brats. Driving me crazy since they were eggs. A refresher for those who are new- I thought I killed them a time or two and drove the folks here nuts with my hand wringing and whatnot. For all of your sakes I hope one goes at 16 weeks so I can quiet down.
I really am sorry.Ratchet killed another chick last night. One of Bitty's remaining two. I'm really getting fed up with him....

. I would not know what to do. I am sure if left her own devices, our dog would kill the chickens eventually. I don't trust her so just don't have them out unsupervised ever...I don't know what I would do if the set up was different as I am sure yours is.
