Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I'm 41 been married for years with 4 kids, the oldest is married and has 2 kids of her own now. The other 3 are teenagers.... 18,15,14 and they have drove me to the point where I'm grey and losing my hair! Then we have the chickens, ducks, 2 dogs, 2 cats and looking for goats. My DW asked a few weeks back, why do we have so many animals? Are we animal horders? I was like i don't know but if chicken math can be adapted to dog math, duck math, and cat math, and goat math, then we really don't have any animals so we need to consider getting more!

I gave Rumples another dust bath today. It is close to 90 and the flock is sitting under the bushes. If work stays busy for the month of July I am taking Rumples to the vet. It breaks my heart to see her sit all alone. Her chicks (big chicks) snuggle with her at night, but in a month or so, I am going to ease them into cooping up at night.

We are going to a wedding in Lodi, CA on the 4th of July. It is supposed to be 100+!! I am going to melt! :th

I live just a couple hundred miles from Lodi, and yes, it is very hot here right now. We do have a dry heat, which is (in my opinion) more bearable than humid heat. But hot is hot. When you live in an oven, you just get used to it.

Cheeka - it might interest you to know that my stepdad is only 9 years older than me lol. He is 43 and has a 10 year old grandson lol.

I was at the movies tonight and I had a chill come over me....almost like someone around here said the naughty word....I see you all were up to no good. When it's -30 here you are NOT going to hear the end of it. You thought it was bad when i was waiting for my chicks to hatch? You thought it was bad when I was waiting for these bozos to lay? You ain't seen nuthin yet!

It is 6:14 am and the humidity is brutal today... Not wishing for the season that shall be unnamed but wow it's gonna be a rough day. And poor hubby has to work outside!

hot sticky humid morning here too.

I need a vacation, or a staycation... I wish I could retire and be a crazy chicken lady full time.

It is going to be unbearable here today. Its already 78* and high humidity. I'm going to mix up some more electrolytes for everyone and probably put out some frozen fruit. Momma and babies may get brought in if she seems to be stressed today. I don't want to do that unless I have to because of the major temperature difference. All the chicks are fluffy and adorable! Momma is doing good and tidbitting for them. I moved the brooder box into the main part of the coop so they can start being introduced to the flock. Everyone was curious and Momma puffed up growling at them. They were respectful and moved off. That makes me think she may be higher up the pecking order than I thought.

Oh, I have noticed that BB has started being rough with some of the girls. He will chase them off the feed and even out of the coop. It is just certain ones as far as I can tell. Any idea why?

The air is so thick outside already you can't breath! They are calling for strong storms this afternoon.
So after 15 weeks and 3 days I can report something other then nothing lol...... I have 4 of the 12 RSL's squatting!!! And one of the silkies acts like it is sorta broody and hasn't even laid and egg yet but it messing with the golf ball in box and she keeps sitting next to it so I don't know what all that means. I'm just very happy to see some different behavior! Maybe we are finally getting close to egg time.

Uh oh scrambles!!! Better not let Mortie see that word!!! I won't tell her...

My friend got married July 7 2 yrs ago and I said "what idiot gets married in dc in July?"... It was 110 that day.

Well another idiot was me. I got married July 7 last year in Philly and it was soooo hot! But I did a simple wedding with minimal hoopla so it was bearable.

Ha! I got married on July 6 two years ago. Happy anniversary to Us!

It's 58 and humid here today. THANKS A LOT, GUYS. All your talk of the-season-that-shall-not-be-named (I like that!) summoned stupid cold weather. Now my fish tank is emailing me every 5 minutes because it's getting to cold and the heaters can't keep up. I blame it all on you. All your fault.

The last few days have been in the 80's and totally sticky. I hate hot and humid. I hate cold. I need to move.

Last night I went to the movies to see Tammy. I looooove Melissa McCarthy. This was not her best film. The Heat was the best. Afterward my friend and I went to have drinks and I came home at midnight. I don't know about you but I can't just turn it off and go to bed...I have to wind down. So I played video games which, coupled with the half gallon of soda I drank at the theater, kept me bright eyed and bushy tailed until FOUR THIRTY. The sun was coming up before I finally dozed off. Oooopsie.

No report yet today because it's raining and I haven't been out to inspect the girls. Don't worry. You'll get one later for sure. In a couple of days they'll turn 16 weeks and then I will probably start showing them videos of chickens laying eggs, playing them recordings of the eggsong, and doing squats in the yard to show them how it's done.

If all else fails, I might try OK's suggestion from way back and go in dressed as a raccoon at night...
