Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

90s here today too.... and 70+% humidity. We are supposed to start getting rain from the tropical storm tomorrow. Maybe that will cool it down a little. I broke down and brought the brooder box into the house. Momma was panting and the chicks were spread out all over the place. They seem much more comfortable in my bathroom. I will probably take her back out after dark when it cools down. Everyone else has ice cubes and electrolytes in their water. I have a frozen treat wreath freezing in the freezer for later.

It is 6:14 am and the humidity is brutal today... Not wishing for the season that shall be unnamed but wow it's gonna be a rough day. And poor hubby has to work outside!
The air is so thick outside already you can't breath! They are calling for strong storms this afternoon.
So after 15 weeks and 3 days I can report something other then nothing lol...... I have 4 of the 12 RSL's squatting!!! And one of the silkies acts like it is sorta broody and hasn't even laid and egg yet but it messing with the golf ball in box and she keeps sitting next to it so I don't know what all that means. I'm just very happy to see some different behavior! Maybe we are finally getting close to egg time.

Keep in mind, about 2 billion people are fasting 30 of these longest and hottest days of the year! No food and no water for 16 hours!?!

I prefer the low 70's with less than 50% humidity. Fall is my favorite season for that reason, but our fall is extraordinarily short. We get maybe 2 weeks and then....well you know.

Ha! I got married on July 6 two years ago. Happy anniversary to Us!
oh wait i got married july 8th and it has been a happy 57 years, we do everything together, he cuts the back part of yard i cut front, we do 1 1/2 acres each, we have built a small barn out of a car port, the ones that have tarp on top and you move it around, we built a sun room on the back of house, which we use as living room all year, got a camper and tturn it apart made chicken coop, now making new coop, we have 58 chickens. all of this has been done in the last 9 years since we moved to delaware, but we always did things together. had 4 kids dad had them at night till 4am, so i could work to help out. we now have 11 grand children and 12 great grand children.

we had another doozy of a storm a bit ago... it dropped the temps by 25°! it actually feels pretty good, but the flock didn't appreciate having their free range time eliminated... poor little pumpernickels. I didn't make a Pie yet - I better get crackin' on that!

Well I found another outdoor nest. What's ironic is I searched in all the places I've seen them. But today I was being lazy and took something outta my car and didn't feel like putting it away... Glanced down to the side of the driveway and saw 5 eggs in a nest. This time I'm going to be smart. I'm going to take the eggs but put 2 fake eggs in it so she hopefully doesn't move!!!! Sigh!!!

I'm bored. the day is slipping by and there's not much to do (besides housework) the flock is snubbing me because it's kind of nice out now and I won't let them out - it's "late", yes, there is more daylight left, but I can't chance them wanting to stay out more than an hour. and they'd want to... all my photos of them are either blurry or they turned their backs! silly birds, tomorrow is supposed to be much cooler and storms are predicted but not until late afternoon... and while it has cooled off a lot, but IMHO it's still too hot to cook. have a good night everyone!!

17 Eggs today
