Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Note to fellow hatchers... Don't wait to set up your brooder on the day of hatching.

So I brought the ecoglow back in May because heat lamps just make me nervous. But I never set it up. So today I get it out and it's missing the half of the power cord that plugs into the wall!!

Ugghhh looks like I'll be setting up a heat lamp after all, at least for a few days.

Called brinsea and they were super nice!!!

I have pips on all eggs in the one bator (it must run warmer than the other) and none yet in the 2nd bator. For my first hatch the same thing happened.

And all eggs are still rockin and Rollin even the one that pipped in wrong spot. So it must be breathing and I'll let her wait longer before I intervene.

I have a dilemma. look what I came home to. it must be one of the original eggs that were due to start hatching on the 20-21st...it was really cold for a few days so a day and a half delay is nothing... I did see one of her eggs a few days ago when she was up eating. I assumed it was a later lay... never ever assume. she needs to sit at least 5 more days for the rest of the eggs. I do not have an incubator and do not know if I can borrow one. I only know one person for sure who has one... and it may be in use... I could take the chick away and put it in a brooder, but that makes me feel terrible because she has her Mama... and 5 days is a long time. what should I do?

can you see if silkie is getting up and moving? Can't she sit and raise at same time? If not I'd prob take away but maybe bring baby back for some snuggle times. I'd hate to ruin a hatch that was this close. Maybe the others will hatch early.

If it were me, I would take the chick and put it in a brooder till the rest hatch and then reintroduce. I am not sure how that would work out, but Rumples accepted a hatchery chicken after hers were a week old. Nugget.

I'm not worried about reintroducing. Gossamer would take it back. unless I give it to another one of the broody's. Peach might take it, or Big Mama, if I take her big baby away. her big baby is 3 weeks younger than the rest, but they do hang out all together during free range. I could put him in with them. I have to think this through and see who is willing to take it. Gossamer should sit at least 2 more days and I bet she would give it 3. I just don't know about 5. at this point, she's not budging. I'm not worried now. I'm worried in advance for 2-3 days from now.

it is a long time... I may try to borrow my friends incubator so I can finish the eggs for her. she'll take them, guaranteed. she loves being a mother. so does Peach and Big Broody. lindz reminded me that I could see if one of them could take the chick... so that's the first thing I will try, later today.

Seems like one or the other has to go away. I would prefer to move the chick than the eggs at this stage. Oooorrrr...maybe someone you know has chicks so you could get this one a couple friends and then put them in the brooder
