Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

first foray out of the nest and into the pen

whoops... I left the door open

he's jealous of the chicks, he came into the Foster's side of the pen and stared at me through the chain link

first Pie. pigeon peas, yams, carrots, green beans, feed and a little cracked corn.

so many other pics of the flock enjoying free range, but reality is bittersweet... time for bed!

I also worry about some others with known health issues. Animallover and ACW. ACW has not been on since March of '13. Animallover was going back to high school if her health allowed. A few days into the school year last year, and nothing.

I have wondered about all those people as well. :(

Today when I was making muffins I inspected the eggs as I cracked them. These are yesterday's eggs. One of the blue ones had a DISTINCT bullseye.

If you read the article I linked, it IS possible for eggs to appear and behave as if they are fertile when they're not really...article said they develop a little for a few days and that's it. They don't develop into proper chicks or anything.

I'm curious.

I still have the bator I borrowed.

imma set the next few days worth of blue eggs to see what happens. I do NOT expect chicks. I just want to see what happens. I have no way of knowing which blue egg is which, they all look the same to me.

I miss OK and Roger too. I hope all is well. OK had a broody and I was wondering about her since this thread had chicks hatching.

THREE!!!!! Nugget, Jemma and Penny. Jemma's egg is still small, but it was darker and Penny's egg was the color of Jemma's normal egg. Picture to follow.... Dummy me left the eggs on the coop roof.

I swear I had a bullseye too on one egg.

We the boys have been getting busy w nugget and she doesn't appear to enjoy it it her running and sqwaking are any indication. In fact yesterday when I let the girls out she stayed back in the pen so I've kept her locked up w squirt and the babies. Well that means she can't lay or go to sleep in the coop. Well she doesn't seem to mind. She laid her egg in the dog crate and tonight she was all snuggled up w squirt and babies. It was totally adorable as the babies are basically the same size as the silkies. Will try to get pics of the sleeping pile tomorrow.

This is making me stay firm on my decision to process the boys this weekend. This way squirt, nugget, babies can move to the little coop and then the new polish babies can move to the dog crate/pen set up!

Um musical coops anyone?
