4 Eggs today and visitors who wanted to see my chickens and my setup, I've been trying to convince them to get a few chickens and I finally won them over! they will have their new coop delivered next week, have a pen and fencing setup fairly quickly and will be ready for birds by April! and I sent them home with a carton of 12 gorgeous eggs... I have 3 left.

Been busy here with visitors and more eating.

Way too cold for most of you.

We have been below freezing the past couple of nights, and I put a heat lamp in the Serama coop. From my kitchen I can see the red glow shining out the coop windows, so even if they don't sleep better, I do, knowing they won't freeze their tails off.

On the gun topic, I think it's very tragic and I feel very sorry for the boy most of all. I'm in the UK so couldn't have a gun if I wanted to, but I don't. In the UK we have a very different attitude to crime, we trust the cops to protect us, and if they don't we have insurance to replace everything, because everything sentimental is in the photo albums and the height markings on the wall and the Lego houses and what theif would take that?

We have so few armed robberies or kidnappings and I reckon it's because there are no guns to be used in them, so we also don't need guns to protect us because they don't happen. As for kidnappings, even if we had guns, they would just be another thing they could threaten the child being taken with and pretty much all kidnappings happen when the parents aren't with the child and children can't carry guns anyway.

That's my penny anyway (two cents for the U.S.) I'd be much more comfortable in a world where no one had guns rather than everyone did. It simply leads to tragic events like this or the school shootings. Which personally are becoming far to common.

Now, can anyone guess which of my chickens STILL aren't laying?

Also Cheeka, your chickens make me jealous I don't have more land!

I would like to see a statistic on crime per capita because you have fewer people than we do so a direct comparison wouldn't be an accurate picture. Also, be sure you don't form your opinion of how we view our police officers based on a couple of incidents and a very vocal group of people. People trusting and enjoying the protection of the police doesn't make good news and it certainly wouldn't make it to your news.

Diehard football fans in this house!!!! Giants for the nfl so our season is over. Rutgers for NCAA. Yesterday was an awesome football day. The almighty SEC got beat in both games.

For the rest of the season I'll prob root for greenbay. I like Rodgers and there is never much grandstanding so they are a good team to watch... But then again so is Seattle!! Choices, choices.....

4 eggs already this morning and I let the girls out to free range. We'll be outside most of the day to keep our eye on them....
