Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Thanks Ron, that's good to know. My Leghorn is very people friendly. No problems there. She can fly well. Best was a 40 ft flight over a 6 ft fence. She only tries to get out if she thinks there's something good to eat.

Rump is all puffed up and grumpy. She got scrambled eggs with sea kelp and a drop of baby vitamins.

I did break one when I was checking on Rumples. It fell out of my hoodie pouch.

But.... Rumples got the eggs as a treat.

I have a friend with 4 chickens and one of them is laying rubber eggs on a consistent basis ever since they started about 6 weeks ago. Might not even be that long....they got their first egg new years day and I'm not sure which chicken laid that one but it seems like she's been telling me they have been getting rubber eggs for at least a month.

So...I know that's normal for a new layer but this seems like a long time. Is this normal? Is her chicken defective? It's getting to the point where I'd be thinking about culling this bird but she would have trouble with that. She is a back yard flocker with only a couple birds and also little kids who are kinda emotionally invested in them.

What would you all do?
