Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I'm really enjoying 80% - especially after having 0% some days this winter. I just like giving my girls a goal. Trust me, when my Cream Legbars hatch, then I'll be counting down to those eggs too.

I am counting down some chicks I hatched from trader joes fertile eggs. They are 8 weeks old now!

How did that work out? I've heard differing experiences with their eggs, both good and bad. Do you know what type of breeds you got, or is it a mixture? We have no Trader Joes near us, or I would definitely try it out!

The eggs were white--so the hens were Hyline-w36 leghorns. The roosters were likely hyline browns which is a brown egg layre. The chicks are a mixture.

lots of catching up, but I read it all! Congrats on the new eggs and welcome to newcomers!

I had no internet here for 4 days, being so disconnected was peculiar and sort of dreadful. but it's fixed! finally!

the youngest pullets, Elinor and Merida have begun laying. I have no idea who laid which egg, but they are both green, one day before yesterday is pointier, the one yesterday is rounder. both perfect. now I'm just waiting for Silkie mix Gretel and her cream colored egg.

this is the egg from day before yesterday... I haven't downloaded photos of the 2nd yet

Cressa is broody. I'll give her eggs next week.

Hey everyone! I'm sorry I have not been on in awhile. Hubby has been having issues with his gall bladder and everything else is going crazy. We lost some chickens over the weekend and Ratchet has not been scratched off the suspect list just yet. I think hubby is going to order a camera sometime soon. At least we can see what we are dealing with. Bitty is broody again and sitting on 6 eggs. I was hoping Harriet would go broody too so I could try to hatch some eggs from the layers I just lost. Those included the Sal Faverolles and my gorgeous blue Easter egger pullet. Averaging a dozen eggs every day. Actually just had my first pocket scrambled egg this morning and I can say that I really didn't enjoy it.

Though babs may have given laying up
The other girls didn't pass the buck
And today with a bit of luck
Peggy joined the layers club!
Three, three!
Finally enough for tea,
Such a lovely pinkish Hue
I hope she lays another too!

Three eggs today as at the age of 47 weeks Peggy quit the holding out club, it is a lovely egg but it seems king of rougher than other eggs but I'm guessing that's just because it's her first, she got it in the nesting box too!

Ming, the newest broody is the offspring of these two, she is half Silkie, half RIR. her Sire, Red, has an excellent temperament, and her Mama is the biggest pile of fluffy sweetness in existence... Cressa is so very tame and sweet, and I love her feathers. since she's gone broody, she is a little less cuddly, but only a little. she'll make a great Mama
