Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Hey guys. My chicks would be pipping today except thanks to a faulty incubator and a smidgen of operator error, who batch killed less than 48 hrs prior to hatch.

So. Yeah. This time I am done for the year. Turning me attention to dealing with the owner of the bator re:it's borrowed and it broke while in my care. If you recall it broke halfway through my last failed batch.

Then I don't know. This was pretty devastating. Also sucking bigtime is I gave some of the eggs to a friend to put under her broody which are now starting to pip and mine should have been too...the only thing worse than survivor's guilt is not being the survivor I guess.

Otherwise chickens doing well. Laying eggs. Too cold for the bees and they haven't come out in days.

Maybe you will get a broody and will get some babies this year.

Mortie, how sad.

So far, I have resisted getting an incubator, mostly because I don't think I could handle the guilt, and I'm sure there would be guilt.

there is. Mostly this time because there was an element of operator error involved. Last time it was sad but it was just one of those things...this time really was my fault.

Anyway...just got home from visiting my friend with the broody. She has a baby on the ground. It's so cute.

Ron - thing is I don't need any chicks. I was hatching these for a friend. I don't need and can't even have any more chickens. They're really cracking down on people selling poultry here because we've got bird flu. It's just a mess.

The bird flu is very scary!

for your day...

we had snow today! at times, near white out conditions, which made doing a double (mine and the 100 mile route) a lot harder. I'm so whooped, but I made sure to have some fun with pics!
first, and foremost... Esther is glued to her eggs. phew. tremendous!

crazy snow

more crazy snow

during a lull, it was pretty. pretty and annoying...
