Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I cleaned a feeder, one gallon waterer, five gallon waterer, and a large rubber bowl. I played with the five gallon waterer so now I need to figure out how to fix it.
The run is usable. I'll mess with it now and then to make it better. The storage space is set up, cans ready for food and scratch. Now I just need the chickens.
 
took another chicken to lab they told me to get wazine 17 for the round worms said they have it bad, they asked if we want to stay to see the lab work on this last one, which was still alive but could not stand t up. we said no thanks, so now we just have to wait to see what else they come up with, they were very nice and said they just came from geting another whole flock from someone in our town. they got them the same place we did as peeps, ( they said not to give any water in coop at night unless it is real hot, just give the water with meds, in the morning and leave it there for the day, they should drink it first thing in the morning, so out came the water from both coops. i sure hope this is it. he said as for the yolk thing nothing we can do, he did tell us about the lice. we asked him if we did right with how we used it, he told us to get that yard seven for gardens and vaseline, mix it together then put it on thier legs, we were told to put gas on the legs, did not like to do that so we just got a dust from ts and they like rolling in that

gilcamp, so glad you've got the problems identified. Sounds like they have scaly leg mites. The vaseline will smother the mites living under the leg scales. You may have to apply it more than once, but eventually their legs will look nice and smooth. Rolling in the dust is good for stopping body mites, but won't stop the leg mites. Also, did they tell you to worm twice, 10 days apart? Adult worms will be killed, but unhatched eggs can still survive in their system and hatch out later starting the cycle over again, so those need to be killed too.

We're getting frost tonight, so I got some feed bags out to cover the tomato cages, and filled one with straw for the plants not in a cage. In the semidarkness I forgot about the Sevin dust I had sprinkled in the straw today. I don't think I got any in my eyes, but some got in my lungs. Silly me.
Did you know that the strawberry got its name from the straw bed it's usually planted in? How ironic that I decided to cover it with a feed bag.

he told us to give it for 3 days then repeat in 3 weeks then do it every 6 mths

yes they are good and they train kids in tech school on everything to do with chickens, we have them because we have chicken factors here for all over the world, chicken houses with hundreds of chickens in them just about every block, and no one can go on that area with out putting boots on that they give you to wear.
 
I was just informed by the feed store that layer feed encourages chickens to lay. That they will not lay if they are not fed it, and that they should only be fed it if you want them to lay.
Anyone agree with that? I don't. Layer feed has lower protein, and adds calcium. That has been my understanding.
 
Hi! I presume you buy eggs to trigger your hens and not to eat:):)
Research on line how frightfully hens are treated in commercial cages and never buy from these places again.Also find out WHAT these poor girls are fed.
Want to encourage egg laying? I use Red pepper, Cayenne, sprinkled on their feed. Learned it in Appalachia.;)
