Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Mylee asks me all the time if I will buy her a horse. so... good luck with that. I can only get out of it because we live so far apart. I don't know what I'll do when I finally move... well... yes I do... I'll buy her a horse.

omg, she'll be gleeful when it comes true! that's very very great.

it's raining and chilly. feels good and I'm sure the flock appreciates the break from the heat. it's been in the 80's and muggy. yuck.

my folks are coming up by train, with my SIL and niece. not quite sure what we'll do because of the rain, but we are going to spend the afternoon in the Hudson Valley. Mylee went camping with her Dad and a bunch of friends with kids. bummer that it's raining now, they should be home soon...

Due to an issue with the plumber that installed new tub fixtures a year or two ago, and adding to that a host of other things, I have come to terms with the concept that I am indeed spending $4000 on a new tub surround. The new fixtures are needed as is the new wall behind the surround. New pipes are needed, but I will be keeping the old copper pipes. They will be doing led testing, and I am understanding that all mold and water damage will be fixed.
I have a (free) rush on my order, so two to three weeks instead of 6-8.

Hi all, sorry I haven't posted recently.

Two weeks ago Zazzles was killed by a fox, we saw it lurking afterwards. We don't know how it got in but have confined the two remaining girls to the enclosed run and letting them out for supervised free range.

I blew Zazzles' last egg. She was a mad, quirky, bossy, funny, girl and I will miss her very much. Xx

I went to Preston two days ago to look at larger enclosed runs and found a relatively cheap big one so that they can still roam. I then spent two hours looking at the chickens, the Frizzled buff polish and Silkied cracked me up. They had sold out of Orpingtons but I plan to get a chocolate or black Orpington in the summer. Then in autumn I might get two chicks.

Rest in Piece my gorgeous mad girl xx

I remember when hiking and walking for miles was fun... Then I got married, and have gained 100#. I got back into walking last month, but when the hot weather came, I stopped. Who wants to sweat?

LOL
I edited my members page. The flock is now named, and I have some decent pictures of them. They are still not crazy about me, but if I have food at my feet, they do come over to eat it. I also have a feather in the nest box. Someone is checking it out.

Otherwise, when I open a door, they hesitate, then most or all run in/out of the coop. When they realize I have food, they come back.
Melissa Etheridge

Steven Tyler

Reba McEntire

Sheryl Crow

Bonnie Tyler

Stevie Nicks

When I was typing their names, I realized something. Steven Tyler, Bonnie Tyler. And Steven Tyler and Stevie Nicks. Kinda funny, huh? The only other female artist I was thinking of was Celine Dion. Cyndi Lauper would have been a choice, but didn't fit at all... Unless someone is completely flighty/crazy. I think that would have shown by now. The only odd one is Bonnie Tyler. She is either shy or getting ready to lay. She spends a lot of time in the coop. Everyone else kinda snaps at everyone else from time to time when they want the treats to themself. Especially Melissa Etheridge and Stevie Nicks. Otherwise, it is a dull group for now. I'm sure that will change as they get older, and get used to me.
Oh, and I am sorry about the fox. A man in Pennsylvania has lost a lot of his flock (six just yesterday) due to a fox coming during the day. It is more of a residential area, so while it could be a momma feeding her young, I suspect there is no fear of humans for her.

Min, so sorry for your loss! foxes have such superior skills it drives me crazy when they snatch an easy opportunity...

MC, they are super cute! it won't be long before they're following you all over the place...

it is rainy and cold and downright nasty! but I had a lovely afternoon with my folks, SIL and niece. their train was delayed in various locations for a total of 2 hours which was terrible, it was cold on the train... they were able to exchange their return tickets for another train that was 2 hours later for departure so we could still have our time. I've got to get a vacation scheduled soon... I need to spend more time with my folks. my Mom is 80, Dad 83 - they're doing pretty well all things considered, but I see my Mom having difficulty getting around and it breaks my heart.

Hi Guys & Gals,
Well I'm down to 1 chickie.....we still have Gladys......I just saw a fox take off with either Endora or Samantha......not sure which one...took the other just 5 mins. after I came in the house to call my BF and tell him I couldn't find one of them. This fox took Aunt Clara about a month ago. I should have known better and not let them out today, it was rainy and I should have put them up when I got home, but I was getting their eggs & giving them a treat. I screamed at the fox who had one in it's mouth, it dropped her but then snatched her back up and was off into the woods. My heart is broken for my little girls...

Please keep them inside if you can, for some reason the fox are especially bad this year. Didn't have a single one last year and now they are everywhere!!!

And yes MC.....we are rural/suburban and they aren't scared.....
