Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

My little Alfalfa laid her first egg! A softie, but an egg... what should i do with it? is it edible?
As long as it is clean and not broken, you can eat the soft shelled\shell less egg.

It will keep a couple of days in a plastic bag in the fridge.

Yay for Alfalfa! She'll get her plumbing in gear soon. Lucky you got the soft egg. My girls usually gobble them up. Like piranhas they are!

I boiled the little shell-less egg to feed it to the girls this morning. It was perfect except no shell! Found it in the middle of the coop. not in a nesting box. I was gone all day so they resisted eating it for the day. I love my ladies!

yea Alfalfa! I love first egg stories...

remember I had given 7 chickens to a friend? 4 EE's and 3 Sillkie's including one cockerel, well... they're all laying - getting 2 pink/cream,. 2 pale blue, and 2 green...! and then... the final trio of Silkie's went to another friend about a week ago - I may have forgotten to share that story... they are doing well - this is their keeper. he adores them, calls them all Speckles, even though they're all white... lol
he was so excited and wanted to go in and cook them right away!

Last week, I called for oil prices, but I wasn't sure what the paycheck would be, so I decided I had better wait. It has gone down a quarter this week!

Cute!

all Great Spangled Fritillary's after a month of nothing but Common Wood Nymph's and funky months, this is very nice. the yellow swallowtails are staying dozens of yards out of reach and I've not seen a single Monarch this year outside of a butterfly exhibit at a local middle school.

flock is great, Big Broody Mama is very happy, Broody Cressa is down to 3 eggs, and Mama Gossy has laid 3 eggs of her own, surely fertilized, so I've left them for her to decide if she'll sit or not.

As always Cheeka, BEAUTIFUL pictures! Is that the butterfly's eye in picture #3 or just part of the wing? I have the same ones here all over my flowers & yellow swallow tails, wish I had a camera to take some pic's but it broke...:( I've seen a few with torn wings or what looks like bites taken out of their wings....would that be an indication of narrow escape from a bird?
