You wife must be so relieved. Hope she continues to improve. Can't remember, does this have a specific name? Where is the tumor located?

Friendly??? Heck no. They are now hiding from me. Yes, I hope that Cheeka puts her wisdom this way.#2 was one I couldn't see well, and the comb has no color, so hopefully pullet. #4 looks like the single ridge, but it's so pink. Maybe just hot that day? Could be all of them have strong Marans influence. Are they pretty friendly? That's s bad sign. Here's a 7-8 wk hatchery EE for comparison.Hopefully cheeka will chime in! She's got tons of EE experience.
Congrats Ron! It never gets old, finding that first egg.33 grams seems pretty respectable for a pullet egg. Do the Pitas lay pretty big eggs?![]()
Cheeka is pretending to grocery shop on Facebook. She isn't buying any eggs though. In English, she was on Facebook a few minutes ago. I came here to say hi. Surprised she hasn't checked in.![]()
Guys, I'm sad to say that it doesn't look like I'll get more than one egg a day while I wait for the newcomers to lay. They don't look ready. Judging by how light the comb is on the Marans, I'd say I have another two months of waiting. On the Polish, I have no idea lol but there doesn't seem to be any wattles so I'd guess a few months for her. They are 20 weeks old now.
I'm waiting for eggs once again. But unless they take as long as Selma took to lay (like 45 weeks) I don't mind.
There has been a bit of feather picking by Selma who has decided she wants to be the head hen. It hasn't been much but we will be getting an anti pecking spray tomorrow. Because Selma has been so dominant, I probably won't get any more Bantams (no silkie for me) . But I have been toying with the idea of building a bantam pen!![]()
In October I am going to Ypres in Belgium and when I get back we will probably get some more egg layers - a partridge Leghorn, a Daisybelle and maybe a Welsummer. And I think that will be enough hens for now. Lol![]()
