Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I hope the pyrenees genes prove stronger!  Not sure how my parents got all the dogs to behave.  They were farm dogs.  I guess the attitude from my parents was you're lucky to have a home, so you better behave.  The only things that weren't safe with the dogs were baby chicks or ducklings.  The lab in particular thought chicks were hor d'oeuvres.  As soon as they feathered out, no problems.

Just noticed the horrible spelling errors! I always have that issue here for some reason :( I am on mobile and on Twitter, etc. I have zero issues. Just here. I think the form is slow to catch up with my fast typing or something. I swear I know how to spell!!!

As for the dog, I hope that side wins too!! His mom had goats so we'll see! In fact, by just under 8 weeks (got him over weekend, he turned it Monday), mom was DONE with them and back, watching her goats! LOL

And that's a good attitude! Lol I tend to overuse treats. I haven't truly worked with him in a long long time though. We used to practice new behaviors or perfect old ones regularly for fun and preventing boredom but I got lazy. Theoretically the idea was to treat until he learns then wean off but I skipped the wean off stage. Gotta work on it. My brother just uses a gruff voice and fear which I don't necessarily agree with but he listens! He also lovesss him so not so much fear anymore but "you better listen or youll be sorry!" Type thing. He never hits him or anything like that but he knows that voice means he better cut it out and FAST. of course, gruffness doesn't always work and certainly doesn't work for the training I was doing, the teaching and shaping new behaviors, and he can't get him to not beg, just is all gator get away from me, GET AWAY, instead of placing him out of room and insisting on it. Kind of funny to see. But he is under control in that sense, doesn't dare do anything bad like lunging at dogs

Hahaa! I can spell, but my typing sucks, so it takes me forever. And staring at the keyboard doesn't let me see what I'm typing. Got invite old Mavis Beacon back over for a visit!!

I think the attitude you have toward a dog makes all the difference. They will follow a dominant personality and challenge a weaker one. I used to teach middle school, and the best thing I ever did to help with control of the classroom, was take a dog training class. It was very eye opening when the trainer told a person that her dog just trained her to say sit 8 times before she expected the dog to do it! Taught me to be the leader and to expect the others to follow. I am pretty laid back by nature, so really needed this. Thank heavens I don't teach any more and so glad the chickens taught the dog to behave!! The tricky part it making sure the dog really understands what you are asking them to do.

Haha aw! Yeah, I,probably type way too fast may be my problem but i dont know.

And that makes sense! I'm glad it helped you teach! Amazing how closely related they are! And oh yeah, ours is sort of like that, have to say it a million times before he does it or say it in the gruff tone or with food and its immediate. But yeah, that's psrt of why I don't entirely like his method, because sometimes he'll get mad at the dog even though he never filly explained ut or taught it, just expects him to know. Also very inconsistent and will let him jump or mouth him or do something bad one time and get mad the next time. Often even within seconds! He will be mouthing and rough housing and then get REALLY angry... now I understand putting a clear end to the play but there's a difference between telling him that's enough or stop and telling him that it's over and getting MAD when he's doing what he did 2 seconds ago!! I'm also of the believe that no matter what method you use, whether it's more dominance or alpha based, 100% positive, corrections, balanced training including all 4 quadrants, clicker training/shaping, rewards, whatever, that there need to be RULES. I think even if you're a meek person or whatever, as long as you establish rules and are consistent they'll respect it if you train it right and keep doing it. Besides, they like having rules. And I think that's kind of similar to a more dominant personality, you don't necessarily have to believe in that, but you do need rules, doesn't matter how you teach those as long as they listen. My problem I think isn't so much the treats as much as it is I'm also inconsistent and havent been training him and when i do, if he decides to do something else i roll with it. I havent been serious about it. Sit, oh well okay dont sit, here do this and get the treat. I need to be more sit when i say it and dont think about it and decide not to. Though it's (treats) def part of it because I should be working towards weaning him off and listening without. Funny thing is if i use the voice he does it instantaneously. But when i need to use treats he won't do things unless he sees the food. You can't tell him to and give it after. He has to see it. Which is a major problem. Need to work on a lot of things

Dogs also do have their own personalities. If I ever get another, I want it to be more submissive.  I have picked out 2 pups in my life and both were overwhelmingly dominant. Not a good fit for me.  There is a great method for picking a compatible dog. Wish I had known about this years ago!     http://www.volhard.com/pages/pat.php

Very true!! Ours being half Pyr has to think about everything and decide if it's worth doing and he wants to. I wouldn't necessarily say he's dominant because if you get mad hes very very sorry but he can be possessive over bones or stolen food etc and if you try to force him into doing something but he has gotten much better about both and cornering a dog is never a good idea anyway. I truly believe its a training issue more than personality exceot tge thinking sbout everthing bit. The Lab half wants to please very badly so its pretty easy to get through to him

Voting is open now! Pick an outfit for church. The dress is diaper revealing when she bends over, but she's wearing tights.

@cheeka I remember getting my ears pierced. I was 13 and it was done at a doctor's office. I passed out right after it happened. Lol.... 6 years later, I pierced my own ears with a needle, potato and ice. You know.... I just had to have two holes in my ears.

Who doesn't like to be warm???   I don't like being cold or hot.  Warm is good.  My comfort zone narrows with every decade.

Is that your pooch in your avatar?  Chicken friendly?

MC, I didn't notice any of that stuff.  Well I did see the crooked hat, but that is part of the charm of being a toddler.  Anything perfect on a toddler is fake or photo shopped!  I was focused on the set of her mouth.  That and her eyes had me trying to figure out if she was scared or just concentrating or wondering why you handed her that giant chicken!  Mostly she looks like she doesn't want to move and break the spell.

To be honest.... if given a choice, I'd rather be cold than hot. I can put more clothes on plus I have more energy when I am cold. When it's too hot.... I melt. But.... warm is good... like 70.
