Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

They should. I have more incriminating evidence that hasn't been presented yet that comes with minimum jail sentences. If they plead guilty and go away, that can too...but they've called my bluff on every offer of compromise so far... I have no problem pressing further charges...I was just trying to save "Pops" from embarrassment in the Country Club circle...
You are a much nicer person than I am!

But sounds like you are Ready to Rummmbllllllle! :bun

You guys remember Spike, my oh please don't be a cockerel Australorp? She's nutty! She keeps getting in the garage and hollering, rattling around in there. Here she's checking in the empty wood box. Soon as I took this picture, she ran back to the coop and laid an egg.
I sure hope she's not going broody.
By the way, she's much prettier than the pic shows.

Cute!

Chances are low that she will go broody. It is bred out of them at the hatchery

oh dear Cheeka...sounds like you have a lot going on!

Yes, they're like 3.5 weeks now. I banished them outside yesterday and they survived their first night in the 20's. If you're going to live up here you gotta be tough. As I was moving them outside, I inspected them carefully and I have a few suspect cockerels picked out. I only have 2 ameracaunas, and I think I have a pair. I've got 2 or 3 marans that are looking iffy. The OE are a little harder to tell because some of them have weird combs, I think due to the mix they are. Cpl more weeks will tell the tale. I am pretty good at spotting a young cock...

Marans are usually easier to tell gender with.

Yes, because single combs tend to be easier. I guess by iffy I meant they look like they may be males, but at 3 weeks I'm not ready to call it in case there are any quicker developing pullets in there...another week will tell the tale pretty clearly.

I know!

Silkies are harder for me to tell.

EEs will get a red splotch on the wings and they seem to crow at an earlier age

Getting settled finally.
It's a mess but at least it's an organized chaos.
Even with a huge storage, which isn't totally full, we have too much stuff here. Gotta go through tons of totes that should be in storage, but we ran out of time, faster to drag it next door...
Wrangler's room is all finished, decorated...she's a happy little girl, despite someone trying to turn her life upside down. My girl comes first!
