Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Yes I am here and traveling. .my signal stinks but I've been trying all morning and finally it's working.
Our lives are still upside down but at least it's summer vacation. Wrangler is having a blast in NM, swimming during the day, all star little league baseball games at night...
Our storage unit was broken into twice, Wranglers dad has abandoned our pets while we've been handling that so we had to return to Colorado to get the animals...and my father is still a psychopath. Life goes on.
I'll be back in a few hours as I have a doc appt in a few hours.
All the stress I've had, I'm under 120 lbs again...

They can go two weeks from squat to lay. Has she started in on the nest box yet? The will often do a day or two of practice egg song too.

You will get that egg soon! I hope it will be a very pretty blue color too

She built a big deep nest in the nesting box yesterday. Should be anytime now right?

I've had a flock before, but haven't been this excited because they were all brown egg layers. Really stoked to see the blue of this egg.

Got a first egg from my Ameraucana. Was more green than blue. She's for sure a pure blue amer. Will the eggs get bluer or is the first one pretty much how they always will look? Anyway, really glad to have eggs again. Would show a photo but my 2 yr old was so excited to see an egg finally she wouldn't let it go and dropped it.

It is common for them to have a bit of green. They do have some brown egg layers in their parent stock.

The brown will fade fairly quickly and the egg will be more of a blue color--In a month or so.
