Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

You going to breed chickens, Blue? :yesss:
This was a breed developed at the University of Arkansas. Light bodied chicken (I think they started with Leghorns or some high production breed) and cross bred for the blue shells. They are blue/black/splash chickens. But the project was shut down and the chickens farmed out to various places. I think some ended up in a large hatchery, but a few BYCers got some as well and tried to keep the breed going. Sounds like they need someone to take over the project.
Ron knows more about it than I do.
Spot on!

The blue egg laying breed was from Whiting Farms

Tempted..... Would hate to see this breed die out.

Your pup made me miss Sturgis. He’s been gone two years. Now I have a hound dog that ain’t never caught a rabbit, so now he’s a pet of mine. He’s spent the first two years training, but he and a brother have faulty noses. He runs over to the hunting cabin when the dogs are in, but he really is happy to be here. I wasn’t sure until this last time. The original trainer passed, but the sons still come. My dog greeted the sons, sniffed at the girl beagles, then ran back to me.

Ohh, beagles are so cute! I love their soft ears. But no wonder he doesn't know how to play. All they want to do is RUN! Does he have a name?
Hope he doesn't chew on your blue suede shoes! :D

Are they b/b/s also?
I think you said, but the old grey brain just ain't what she used to be!
They were bred to be BBS by the grad students at UofA. The blue egg layers from Whiting are the ones now sold by McMurray as Whiting Blues. The Breed created has the added egg laying ability of the leghorns so lay a lot more eggs than the whiting blues.
