Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

my honey played a joke on me when I got home from work. I said I was going to go see the chickens and see if I had an egg. He said, no, you didn't have an egg, i was out there 20 minutes ago... so I said, awwww... and he said you didn't have AN egg, you have FOUR eggs! ahhhh, nice!

it's pouring again... we had a couple of inches of rain overnight and this morning, but had a break of about an hour that I was able to take the gang out for bug hunting...

Isis is squatting away, comes to me everyday, she is so beautiful, her feathers... I gotta get new pictures. I'm doing a real countdown. I want an egg in 36 hours or less!

Where's the face palm smiley when you need it? When Roger receives her award, you should get the "Punmeister" award!

Yay for 4! Show Isis the soup pot!!! Show us the new pics!

I have rain envy. We didn't get much rain last winter, and summer has been dry as usual. The ground is crunchy. 95 degrees yesterday and another big fire burning in the next county north. There's a chance for sprinkles Monday!

we had that horrible hurricane a little over a year ago, Irene, 10 feet of water filled our downtown, everything was basically destroyed. then we had virtually zero precipitation from last September, 2011 through the end of July, 2012... my yard crunched too. it was like walking on bags of potato chips. big sections of my yard is English Thyme, and it didn't come back for the "purpling of the lawn" in August and September... but, it'll be back next year, it's invasive...
Starting in July, we began to finally get some rain, but we were major inches down. we got 3" last night and it's still raining. our rebuilt creek walls can't handle much more... I sure wish it would stop, or that I could send it your way...
we have a 60% chance of rain tomorrow. if it's nice out, I'll get better pics, but I can take them inside the enclosure if I have to... Isis is a Red Laced Blue EE, but she honestly looks more like a Gold Laced Silver if there is such a thing... she's stunning, this is her last week, not the best, but the sun wasn't very bright, and the highlights just don't show...


I've got to get pics of her butt fluff too, cuz as tiny as those fluffs are, they are the same, blue with golden tips... so pretty... the back of her head is spotted with blue feathers in the black
 
She is gorgeous! You must be dying to see her first egg. Do the chickens like being in the rain? Mine have dirty faces from eating apples under the tree. They all need a good shower!
 
ty! I am dying to see what color her egg will be! she's got ice blue wing tips... she's getting golden yellow to golden red feathers mixed across her saddle, her hackle feathers are still dark dark blue/black laced light blue... such contrast... she dazzles me, and really, her butt fluff is all light blue with golden tips, looks like fiber optics in the sun...


edited to add this photo i found and enlarged, it should show the butt fluff pretty well in large view...

mine don't mind at all being out in a sprinkle or even a little heavier... when it really downpours, they head for the lilacs or pines, whichever is closest... the lilacs are pretty dense despite the scratching and bathing that goes on under them... I also have a couple of really nice blue spruce with low skirts that they can take cover under... but it seems that the Dome is so exceptional, they prefer it to all else these days. that's the best feeling, to have created a home that they are happy in.

the vinyl cover easily withstood the torrential rain and 45 mph winds, so I'm psyched to have no repairs to make!
