Isis laid her first egg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FOUR
FOUR...... Today we laid Four ~ including Isis! we gave 2 brown and one cream and one light greenish blue, it's raining and we stomped around in the untarped part of our run, got nice and muddy and then we walked all over Mother's eggs, they were exceptionally dirty by the time she got home from work!
I rolled up a section of vinyl so they could have some daylight... then it rained all day...I hated to have to wash them, but they were yucky and I wanted pictures...eh, I'm gonna eat em tonight anyway! fried egg sammy on an Udi's GF bagel coming up!
so, ACW, you were right, it's green, but it's a much lighter green than Blu's olive egg, and has a bluish tint.
Yay Cheeka! Congrats on Isis' first egg. Sure is purty!
I did a little research on blue/green eggs and found a study that said that carotenoids (from dark leafy greens, yelllow and orange veggies) not only will make the egg yolk more orange, but will give the shell of blue eggs more color. I've noticed that my EEs egg color varies a bit, and I have to supplement any greens during the summer but amounts are inconsistent, so there may be something to this. Keep feeding them all that healthy stuff- can't hurt.
Sounds like they're getting into the swing of things!
Your sig line says you are from New Jersey. I lived there until I was 6, in Neptune, near Asbury Park, I think. Looong time ago!
Lots of good memories of turtles in the woods and huckleberries and fireflies. I loved the autumn there, all the beautiful leaves! Definitely my favorite time of year. How does PA compare?
