Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

What's with the BR's, my little chickie is the most outgoing sweetheart, and it's all about the food. She now flies up to see me and will usually climb right into my hand. Is the breed just obsessed with food more than the rest? She thinks my ring is food and will come over to my hand and follow it while I'm cleaning. She is so nosy! I really need to name them...

We are all set for this storm, best wishes to all this upcoming week, it seems this storm is going. To reach far and wide.

May I please vent here? If you don't want to read it, you don't have to, but I need to vent to ppl that understand how important my flock is to me!
I asked DH to cut the wood for the coop, I would build everything. He did everything, did it his way, it had to be re-done. $$$$!!!!(waste of money)
Now the run roof is bowing in the middle, and all rain pours into the coop via the ventilation. I said I would fix it. He has been saying for a month he would do it. I am not to try. Now this storm is coming. I can keep the chickens safe (I am very creative!) but I am ticked that I have to do more than keep them locked in. I am also ticked that DH is insisting we aren't supposed to get any rain, snow or wind.

ALL DONE! Thank you!

Well, I did a little research and found that BR can stand for many things besides Barred Rock.

Behaviorally Recalcitrant
Beloved Rascal
Backbiting Rabblerouser
Brazen Rogue
Bold Racketeer
Benevolent Redeemer - this was Spot's idea
roll.png

Big Rat
Bottomless Receptacle - for treats

Remind you of anyone?

MC! I had to design mine all by myself, got help with the construction from friends, not my BH, he said it was my hobby and the bottom line was that it was going to cost money....so I built it from recycled stuff, only cost me for the hw cloth... then when he finally does show up, after contributing not one idea or finger lift... he had the nerve to criticize and complain about how it's not "tall" enough... I stood straight up inside the enclosure and said "looks tall enough to me" i reminded him that "it's my hobby". He's never said another word, and he brought the heavy duty vinyl to cover it for the winter. I know he's impressed, he just really hates that I am so independent and capable. he really does... I don't understand that, I would think it would be an attractive attribute, seems he would rather I be helpless and needy. Yep, stir my passions...at my house, that's what the chickens do...

.....All of the above applies to Roger. And to think that some people raise only BR's. She learned to cock her head sideways and look at me pitiful when she is bad....AKA...the Beloved Rascal look. Good post W4W

I won't mind if you name her Roger. But you have big problems if she tries to live up to her name. In the Chicken Dictionary under "Roger" you will find the definition roger: outlaw; socially non compliant; no regard for authority; a psycopath chicken with a eating disorder; insanity multiplied; your worst nightmare;

OH No!! Bowing in the middle is not good. Snow is heavy. Put some temporary 2X4 legs under the part that is bowing so it doesn't cave if you get a heavy snow. If it is bowing under its own weight it probably won't be able to handle the weight of snow. If I was closer I would give you all a hand with it.

I'll speak for the other sex. Chickens roosting on the headboard in the master bedroom will stir any mans passion. You will be surprised how interested he gets in your chickens housing and their well being. After one night he will understand your "passions". Especially if you just put the poop board over your half of the bed.

the quotes for W4W and Sallysec didn't come up... The Roger saga... so amusing!
