should i caponize my little chick

As mentioned above, farmers who have large chicken flocks and who are learning to caponize start out practicing on unwanted cockerels of common breeds. I said "unwanted" like a "fry pan special" or the like.

If they fail and hit the artery and kill the bird, they have a scald pot ready along with a butchering table and poultry shears. Caponizing by a beginner is not a pretty process and is very risky.

Someone who is just learning would never attempt to caponize a wanted and loved pet chicken, especially one from a very small flock.

I would just relax,it isn't a big deal if you have a roo not at all.
You'll be able to raise him to be a perfect chicken son because you have so few.
Be soft spoken and make a routine to show him what he's supposed to do everyday,.
Never stray from it encourage him and reward success with treats.
Never think about the gender bringing one up,it is not helpful and could actually make things harder.
I raise all mine the exact same, it works beautifully, my roosters are fabulous,
Asserting dominance is not helpful and can be ignored if suggested, seriously it just makes things weird.
Do it this way and unless he's naturally a jerk you'll have a very nice boy.
Silkies aren't sex machines so don't worry about the romantic aspects, you'll see.:)
