Should I get rabies shot

Lo sorry folks I was actually joking which is why I put this in but I thought was the proper forum while chickens are mammals therefore technically you might be capable of catching rabies from them highly improbable I'm aware of that as far as be needing stitches is nothing close to that and as you would have indicated in the post where I said I had to stop laughing when he attacked me again he didn't attack me he just he just bit me. Probably not Behavior I should encourage and any other time when I was with him he would let you pick them up and scratched in between his wings and scratches head but he is a roo the hormones are going to be flowing if not already

That's why my I feel safe around chickens. I used to have a strong fear of rabies. My many trips to the co-op in the dark fixed that.

I had a rooster that turned on me when I was petting him. His name was José. I was not laughing when he attacked. José made a good meal for one of my neighbors. Roosters has a tendency to turn on you when they start realizing they have some ladies that they don't want you around or think you would make a lovely addition to his flock. And if he thinks you as a hen he may try to bring you food. I think a rooster attacking is most likely he thinks you are going to go after his hens and that you are going to eat them. The rooster may see you as a predator or I have cases were a rooster thinks that I am going to steal his hens and will challenge me to a fight. Be on the look out for if your rooster is attacking he will come running any time one of his hens squawk.

Our tiny d'Anvers happen to be the most agressive, but it doesn't matter, because they are so small you barely feel it. But believe me, they give nothing short of their all.
