Should I get rabies shot

And one additional note.

I found your discussion by way of the recent posts tab in the sidebar. Others may click through like I did without bothering to glance at the category and think you're being serious.

But even tucked inside the Family forum, it still reads as a true encounter with a rooster.

I'm honestly quite bothered by this.

I'll fix that since apparently no one is choosing to have a sense of humor as I had intended it, I will depart group.

No one said you were stupid! It's very easy to misinterpret tone online, which is why I would have put something like this :lau at the end of your post. If I'd realized your post was intended to be a joke, I would have a bit of a chuckle at it.

No, chickens don't get rabies, but their predators do...raccoons, weasels, possums, skunks, coyotes, foxes, etc. Chickens can spread bacteria, such as salmonella, tetanus, etc. So, clean the wounds and use an antibacterial product. If the depth is beyond butterfly strip closure, stitches are needed.

I pretty much figured Op was kidding, but in defense some of the more "serious minded" posters there are some waaay out there questions posted that aren't jokes...a whole lot of them lol! You know I'm right.;)
Now that's a great example of what I was saying about tone: without the smiley at the end, that sentence could potentially be interpreted as mean, but with the smiley it's obviously a joke!

:clap

The OP has since come back and indicated that his original post was intended as a joke. I think he expected laughter and was surprised when he got sound advice instead.

That's where I was with it, too, but I erred on the side of caution, since there are a lot of questions that are meant seriously and where an OP would feel quite offended by a glib response to their real distress. I used to work in a profession where the realities were often grim and a sort of gallows humor helped us cope with the day-to-day horror. I'm well aware that what may strike me as humorous may be way off from the typical and tend to curb that in myself unless I'm sure people are joking and share enough common ground with me that they will not be appalled at what I have learned how to keep in perspective through humor.
