If you can give yourself a shot the penicillin is good stuff! The first shot is pretty hard, but after that it's really easy to do it. I would not recommend a small needle though, the penicillin is pretty thick. So, I use a 22 most of the time, but a 20 would be better.

You could take Cephalexin capsules- Amazon.com has it, they call it "Fish-Flex"- same thing. It comes in 250mg caps, so you'll have to take 2 each dose. 2 Caps 2 times a day for 14 days.

I can't believe you are still talking and have not seen a Dr. yet.
I have an uncle who had a little infection in his ankle, and being the man he was, he did the home remidies and moved on. That was several years ago....today, he is a double ampute, due to this little infection. This may not be common, but is it worth the risk? My legs are worth far more then a co-pay....go to the Dr.

That's what I was trying to say. Our good neighbor was a pistol of a woman, always busy, always working. Now she can barely get around in her own home.

You are so very right.....infection can ruin the life as you now know it if you let it progress. A co-payment is minimal compared to other possible outcomes.
