I got a mini pen for my 4wk old chicks 2 golden Sexlinks and 1 Mille fleur d’Uccle to be on the grass. My 10wk old Rhode Island Red babies are in the coop with 10x10 run that is 6ft tall. Would it be a good idea to put the mini pen in the run? The mini pen has a lid so the little ones can't get out, and the big ones can't get in. However they'd all get a good look at each other.

That's fine. Your poor d'uccle may get bullied in with all those standard breeds, hopefully it buddy's up with one of the sex links.

Yes, that will be good. Are the 4 week chicks off of heat? I would start integrating now also. Can you make a panic door on the mini pen, so they can get away from the ten week old's?

My Mille Fleur D’Uccle Ziva is very good buddies with my Golden Sexlinks Lucy and Ethel. I call them my three musketeers because they are always together. I bought Lucy and Ethel for Ziva to have buddies. I got Ziva first, so she is only one day older than Lucy and Ethel. They all sleep in a pile in one corner; even though they have a good size brooder box with plenty of room.

For now it would be for my Rhode Island Red chicks; a look and can't touch just yet. The idea is to start getting them use to seeing each other through out the day. My little ones would still be going back to the brooder box at night. Once the younger ones are 8wks old I plan to turn half the coop into a grow out stall. For my peace of mind, I'm going to be taking this as slow as I need for a safe integration.

That's good to hear. :)
