How can a day old chicken be broody?

Fluffy has never had a chicken go broody before and wants it to happen so hoping that the chick will be a hen that goes broody often. That is why I jokingly said it is probably a rooster

Poor Fluffy has had the worst luck in trying to get broody chickens. Like, 11 years of bad luck. That's equal to 1 1/2 broken mirrors!

So if there's a chick that is just sitting on it's shell, or any shell, then *that* one is the broodiest!
