Should I trim?

[I have WHAT in my yard?]

My Polish's mop top?? She does fine, and she's healthy, but it's pretty clear that she cannot see without turning her head. Should I trim her feathers back?? How do I know if any of these feathers are blood feathers?

I'd trim them back. Are her feathers so dark that you can't see if the feather is a blood feather? I know how to tell if it is or not, but I can't explain it.

If her feathers are light, you'll be able to see the blood.

Her pouf (whatever you call it) is mostly white, but the feathers closest to her eyes are black. How could I tell??

I see posts on here regularly advocating trimming the crest of crested birds. Since the crest is a defining breed characteristic I can't help but wonder why would anyone want to raise a crested breed if they then wanted to remove the crest? Polish & other crested breeds do just fine with their crests left intact. Why spoil the beauty of the bird by removing the crest? I just don't get it!
