Good thing you did it!
It's not really turning them in IMO, it's like getting a higher authority to get them to do something.. Like a kid who won't clean their room until mommy comes by and tells the kid "You need to clean your room. If not, I will ground you" or any other type of punishment, ehm taking away xbox or whatever. Another real life example :
I have kookoo neighbors, they must dislike me or something. They reported us on our ducks, claiming our ducks water was dirty. Uneducated ofcourse. Animal control came over and said "that's not healthy", well I didn't have the chance to change it as I was in the middle of feeding the chickens and ducks. I told them about how ducks make the water dirty quicker than ever, gave them a little info on ducks, and they nodded. When I did change the water the officers watched the ducks play in it and were amused. One said "oh wow they poop in their water".
After animal control left I saw someone at their house watching.
People out there are crazy, my family has expirienced this type of crazy unfortunately. Some people will take revenge on you for some of the littlest reasons. You stop giving someone food and they pop your car's tires.
