Hello everyone ... Sorry I skipped over this part earlier a while back ..Got a little excited about joining...I kinda inherited chickens when the roommate moved out..which was this past autumn. I have three blue wyndottes one RIR, four Barr Rocks , four golden wyndottes .and a pair of ( black ?) Sex links part Barr rock and ?? A dog and one guinea named goober. Jack is a mean Barr rock and Joker is one of the sex links... I m incubating and today is hatch day...feel just like a momma. Lol my husband says all I talk about is chickens... I live in Louisiana originally from Oregon... I m wanting/needing to either expand or build a larger coop eventually I would like about Fifty or so chickens...

    Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

One last thing, if you're into gardening, feel free to join this years SEED SWAP (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/seed-swap.1220129/)

Welcome to Backyard chickens. For 50 birds your coop will need to be big, as in HUGE!!
Are you planning on layers or meat birds? Or maybe both?
