Should we get eggs to hatch or day old chicks?

I am not really finding the special breeds I want locally, so those will be the ones we hatch.
Still trying find eggs within a reasonable driving distance so we don't have to go the shipped egg route. From what I read, shipped eggs only have roughly a 50% hatch out rate.
That depends. I plan on going through BYCer's that have good hatch rate reputations! There are auctions, and threads for buying eggs.

I've seen the for sale threads but how do you find out the hatch rates?
Just go back on the history. Many people who order BYC eggs will post their results to the thread they bought them from. Also if you go to their profile you can see what threads they have posted and see if they are a regular seller, if they are it is a good chance they know what they are doing!!!

Thank you, I will do that. Do you have you recommend?
