I'm not sure where to put this, but I really wanted to share my positive experience with Farmtek customer service.
I ordered the nipples to make a nipple waterer from them based on a link from ChickenEllis. I know that some folks have balked at Farmtek's high shipping cost, but I wanted to make sure I got the right thing and wanted to make sure the quality was good, so I bought from them. I also ordered a thermometer from them to put in the coop. One of those mercury ones that show the temperature and also the high and low temperature. It's a simple mercury thermometer that has little plastic jobbies that get pushed up by the mercury and stay there until you shake them down.
At any rate, my thermometer didn't seem to be calibrated correctly. It was off by a staggering 20 degrees F. I did an online chat and told the rep what the problem was. She had a customer service rep call me about an hour later with a suggestion if I was game to try (put in freezer to reset and call back if that didn't do the trick). Did the freezer thing, but it didn't help. Also didn't have time to call Farmtek back. But I didn't have to because 2 days later the SAME rep
called me to asked if it had worked out. I told her it hadn't, so she said just toss that one and they'd send me a new one or refund my money, whichever I preferred. The new thermometer is on the way - they sent an email, too.
Long story short, these folks were super personable and took incredibly good care of a first time customer who had trouble with an $11 thermometer. I know that if I order from them again, I can do so with confidence. I just love great customer service. Don't you?
UPDATE: 2/2/10 Today I received a new thermometer - a much nicer one than I'd originally ordered and paid for - and a hand-written note. From a real live person.
Really, the nicer thermometer wasn't necessary. I was already thrilled with the great response to my issue with the first one. I'm just so amazed. I feel like it's my lucky day!
