Do you have an updated picture of the chicks in the first picture that are the BIE Roo x EEI’m thinking they’ll be all black with some coppery highlights? Please post pics when they hatch.
I’m going to try Biel over Blue Copper Marans to see what the egg color (and pullets) will look like. My Biel rooster has a lot of gold so maybe I’ll get like a Crele blue or black.
These little surprises hatched just last night. Biel rooster over common EE- the broody is my blue copper Marans who volunteered to be mom. First time ever and 3/3
Last pic is Karen, my EE egg donor. Rooster is a big ole softy but sure looks tough in a wind gust![]()
I have a couple Bielefelder eggs in the oven from the blackish Olive Egger in the first Pic, and down the road I'll be breeding my Bielefelder girls to the blueish rooster who is from a Splash Marans and an orangish Easter Egger. I'll send pics in a couple weeks when the first batch hatches.Hi,
So, I decided to let my broody marans hen, Minnie Mae, have 6 eggs yesterday. She has two of her own, two from my Whiting True Green (a red colored single combed olive egger) and two from my sicilian buttercup. Dad is a handsome bielefelder.
I know I'm counting my chickens here, (Not sure how serious Mae is about it, as she switched nests at least once today), but has anyone hatched any of these crosses, and what did they look like?

Yes! The males have more barring, while the one female is muddled.Do you have an updated picture of the chicks in the first picture that are the BIE Roo x EE
Stanley is a pullet, and definitely from the silver rooster since she isn’t barred and has the silver gene (pullets have to get the silver gene from their dad). Cici’s dad has to be a silver rooster too. These are my grown Biele mixes. Some I’ve shared here already as chicks-
Below is MJ. Dad is a mix (silver w/ red & blue mix of mostly Orpington I think). Mom is a Biele.

Below is MJ’s biological brother, Phantom.

Below is Betsy Ross, a pullet. Same dad as MJ. Mom is a different Biele. But basically the same mix.

And my current youngsters-
Below is Solo. Mom is a BCM x RIR. I noticed barring in his hackles, so I guess dad is my Biele (original suspected dad isn’t barred).

Below is Keebler. Dad is Biele. Mom is, pretty sure, a solid blue mixed hen of mostly Wyandotte (but with straight comb).

Below is Stanley. His mom is a solid black Wyandotte x BCM. Dad is either Biele (suspected) or the silver Orpington mixed rooster. His silver color had me suspecting the silver rooster, but since the Biele seems to be papa to the majority, I’m less certain. Do you have any ideas as to who the dad is?View attachment 4144598

Below, and last from this clutch, is Cici. Mom is EE. Dad is TBD. She’s the silver pullet on the roost in the first pic, in the foreground in the second pic. Again dad could be Biele or could be my silver BYM rooster. Any guesses?

The chick below is from the Biele (obviously going to be barred) and from one of my black BCM x SLW hens.

And finally, below we have Corona, who is 1/4 Biele. His dad is MJ (pictured with him) and mom is a black BYM of Marans and Orpington.

I hope you’re right about Stanley being a pullet. Aside from the silver color, are there any other reasons you think it’s a pullet? I have been confident Stanley was a cockerel until recently when his comb didn’t redden. But the other cockerel, Solo, is much more dominant so I was thinking Stanley would just redden later.Stanley is a pullet, and definitely from the silver rooster since she isn’t barred and has the silver gene (pullets have to get the silver gene from their dad). Cici’s dad has to be a silver rooster too.
