show me your elaborate watering setups!

Might want to use a 5 gallon bucket instead of 55, for that small of a setup the water will go septic i.e. not enough flow of fresh water. Just install a toilet valve in the bucket to keep it full and you can adjust how much water is in the bucket for a quicker change out of the water..

1 5gal Bucket Supplies 12 Cup Heads Servicing Up To 5 Quail Per Head And Lasts 24 Hrs+ . A Constant Supply Source Is Not Only Un-necessary But Added Maintenance And Things To Malfunction. 18inches Of Elevation Is Sufficient To Keep All 12 Heads "wet" At All Times During Operation Here In The Florida Heat And Humidity

ETA: I SIMPLY REFILL THE BUCKET WITH A GARDEN HOSE EACH AFTERNOON/ EVENING

BY PLACING MORE EQUIPMENT IN THE SYSTEM YOU DRIVE UP COSTS, MAINTENANCE REQUIRED AND EXPONENTIALLY INCREASE POTENTIAL MALFUNCTIONS... ALSO FOR FREEZE ZONE CLIMATES THE LAST THING YOU WANT IS A PRESSURIZED PIPE TO BURST AND SPRAY YOUR BIRDS WITH WATER DURING FREEZING PERIODS- NO MATTER WHAT THEY'RE AGE AT THE TIME OF THIS OCCURANCE THEY WILL DIE IN MINUTES IF THIS HAPPENS (BELIEVE ME I KNOW,,,FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY

and maybe remember a drain valve- near the end, to allow you to clean the whole system with a mild vinegar/water solution, every once in awhile.

Rosco and I chatted about this...

good luck, so much easier...

My System (sorry Cant Find The Stupid Camera) Is 1/2 Pvc Pipe That Runs As A Main Line Thru The Pens... Each Seperate Compartment Has A Drinking Head In It Accomplished Thru The Use Of Pvc 3 Or 4 Way (for Back To Back Pens) In My Case My Drinker Cups Use 1/8in Pipe Threads And Are Screwed Directly Into A Reducer At The 3 Or 4 Way---1 End Of The Main Line Has A Nipple System That Reduces Down To A Smaller Diameter Flexible Clear Tubing Hose That Is Plumbed In Thru The Bottom Of The Reservior Bucket, The Other End Has Screw Off 1/2 Pvc Cap .... When Algea Builds( Which It Will...) Up In The Lines Or Anytime Flow Is Too Slow I Simply Unscrew The Cap, And Disconnect The Flexible Tubing From The Bucket And "blow The Whole System Out Clean" With High Pressure From The Garden Hose... The Tubing Is Just "stabbed" Onto The Reducers At Either End... Since Its Only Gravity Feed With No Serious Pressure There's No Need For Clamps... No Clamps Allows For The Tubing To "pop Off" In The Event Of Freezing Water In The System...thus No High Pressure Water Spraying Anywhere Or Burst Pipe Sections... The System Merely Pops Open And Allows The Water To Drain Harmlessly...worst Case Scenario I Have Some Thirsty Birds.

Boyz I'm Runnin Ballz To The Wall For At Least The Next 48-72 Hrs...but As Soon As I Can I Get Pix And Get Them Posted For Ya... Likely Late Sunday Tho.

Here is my waterer for the quail brooder cage and chukar cage.

Its a feeder bowl (slightly chewed on by the dog), cut down. Bought little floats. Then bent wire over it so the birds wouldnt sit on the float and overflow it. The wire cover is attached at the back so it flips up for easy cleaning.
