Look what hubby brought home for me 😍😍😍
I believe these will be the walls to my meat bird manor (that's not definite, but they'd be pretty darn perfect!!)

They are 11ft x 4ft.

Wow, finally finished going through all (currently) 68 pages of this thread and have gotten alot of inspiration on what my next pallet project(s) will be. I built my first coop using pallet wood. I don't recall how many pallets were used, but I do know it took much longer than expected...mainly because of the time to tear apart each pallet and de-nail them.

:thumbsup Boy, that looks like a gold mine of wood there. Gotta love those long pallets. Amazing the wood is so good on them, too. Congrats on the find.

Well, there is a lot of good stuff on this thread pertaining to pallet projects. I am glad to hear you are finding some inspiration.

Also, Thanks for sharing your photos on your pallet coop build. Love it.

I built my first coop using pallet wood. I don't recall how many pallets were used, but I do know it took much longer than expected...mainly because of the time to tear apart each pallet and de-nail them.

Most of my pallet projects use wood from pallets I breakdown and reuse. There are some suggestions in this thread about tools that will help speed up the pallet breakdown process. Some people manage to use full pallets without breaking them down. That would save a lot of time.

If I can use full pallets, without breaking them down, then that is what I would do. But, I'm all for taking the extra time to get the wood in a form that I need for my projects, and I don't mind (much) if it takes me a bit longer to complete the build. I just think about how much money it would cost me to build that project with new wood.

Yeah, I prefer to take the pallets apart and use the individual planks as needed. That way, I can butt the planks evenly together, and select certain color tones for a particular project. I've got plenty of time to enjoy.

I hear you. Do you edge the planks to make glue ups? I don't have an edger, but am going to make a jig to run the planks through my table saw and then the planks would be even, for making glue up panels and such. It's on my long term list of things to do.

None of my projects to date have needed special milling of the pallet wood, but I would like to try some more complicated projects in the future. No glue ups for me in my unheated garage until next spring/summer. Gives me more time to work on my limited skill set, anyways.

Love to hear any comments you might have on topics discussed in this thread. I'm always learning from others.

Super nice coop!!

These brought big ole wrappers in on them. In the warehouse we use wrappers to wrap our pallet before we ship them...

They were only in the warehouse a wk, which is why they in such good condition! They were used once to bring the wrappers in and that's it!

There is some deconstruction I need to do to them! Every board on the pallet is nailed in! The main boards on the pallets are bolted in, those will stay IF I use them for my meatbird manor. The ones I take off will be of use as well.

That's my next project! I gotta get supplies around to roof the Turkey Tower before winter.
