Show Me Your Pallet Projects!

It was raining today, so I decided to go into town and look for a replacement air compressor or parts to fix my old one. Besides my Air Locker nail puncher, I have a 18 gauge brad nailer/staple gun I got from Harbor Freight last winter and have not had a chance to use it yet. Also, I am tearing apart lawn mowers and need the air attachment to blow off the machines and carburetors.

The cheapest replacement air compressor of the same size as my old one was just over $150.00. I was thinking maybe $60.00, but then again it has been over 20 years since I bought my air compressors. Well, I did not to spend $150.00 on a new air compressor, so I went store hopping looking for repair parts for the old compressor.

Menards had what I needed. I bought their less expensive pressure regulator for $5.99.

:clap I was able to take all the other parts off the old regulator assembly and reuse them with this new pressure gauge. I put everything back together, filled the tank with air, no leaks anywhere, and the pressure gauge works really nice. Depending on the weather tomorrow, I will give it a working test out with some of my air tools. But, for now, I'm really happy with my $6.00 fix.

One of my new items on my pallet project list is building some tomato cages out of pallet wood pieces. I plan on using the air staple gun for that project, which is one of the reasons why I wanted to get my old air compressor back in operation. Anyways, last year I bought a bunch of heavy wire tomato cages that looked really good. Unfortunately, they are breaking off at the welds/solder points and just falling apart. I'm very disappointed with them. So, this year, I think I will try and build some tomato cages out of scrap wood and see how that goes.

Here is a picture of what I currently have in mind...

:idunno If anyone has already made tomato cages out of new wood, pallet wood, or reclaimed wood, and has any lessons learned, I'm asking for your experience in what works and what does not. Thanks.

Just dropping in...HEY EVERYONE!!! (since I lost the thread again 🙄) bc I promised @gtaus pictures of baby goats when we got them.

Good to hear from you again. Was wondering if you were still around here somewhere. Do you have any pallet projects in mind this year? I remember you built a lot last year.

Well my husband surprised me for mothers day with 2 more kids....🤣🤣🤣

:love Very nice pictures of the baby goats. They sure look like they are enjoying their new home.

I keep asking Dear Wife if I can get some goats, but she won't let me. :smack

Well, I hope you come back more often and keep us up to date on your adventures. Later...

I would LOVE to build a bunch of tomato cages like what you've shown in the picture. Two problems: I'd need about 50-60 of them, and I'd have to convince DH we could store them in the pole barn is some organized fashion.

Third problem... no pallets at the moment. :hmm

Glad your new method of nail removal works so well. :thumbsup

Hey hey!!! I'd love to say I've gone back and read everything I missed but alas...time does not allow.
I do have pallet builds planned for this year. A 16x16 shed, and an 8x8 green house...

Although the green house may have to wait till next yr depending.

I am loving the goats, they are incredibly low maintenance as wethers. Maybe your lovely wife would consider them if she knew how low maintenance they are.

Wethers don't eat grain so no cost there. They browse and eat grass hay and minerals. Fresh water and that's it!!

Hopefully I don't lose the thread again....I love seeing what everyone else is coming up with

I know the feeling. I like to post to the What Did You Do In The Garden thread, but I don't have near enough time to read all the posts. I know I'm missing a lot on that thread, but, like you said, a person only has so much time.

Anyways, I hope you upload some posts when you start building again. Loved hearing about your projects.

I have enough pallets for a shed and I too want to build a greenhouse. It's on the list, but other things have higher priority. Dear Wife's Honey-Do list comes first and I seldom get that one cleared... :smack

I have been trying to keep the thread alive with posts of what I'm doing. But I don't want to make it into a journal of only my pallet projects, so I hope others will be jumping in again this summer and sharing some of their pallet projects.

This time of year, that thread gets a LOT of posts!

I love to see your projects! They are inspiring!

Once the garden is into "maintenance mode," I hope to have some time -- and pallets! -- to build something.

I can never keep up with the gardening thread but was finding myself trying to read every single post regardless. I finally started staying away because my OCD need to read everything was taking all my time 😂

Looking forward to hearing about it.

Yep, this pallet project thread was a spin off from the gardening thread. I don't have the time or energy to keep up with all the posts on the gardening thread, but this thread geared to mainly pallet projects is much easier to follow. Topics get lost in mere hours on that gardening thread due to high volume of posts. Also, there is something in the BYC forum notifications that if you don't hit a notification on a thread, you might not get another notification - ever - unless someone quotes you in a response or addresses you with a tag. I don't suffer from OCD, but if I did, I think trying to keep up with all the posts on the gardening thread would drive me crazy.
