Show Me Your Roosters That Don't Crow!!!

Im surprised in all these posts no one has mentioned silkies. Its TRUE that no roo does not crow but I would strongly suggest getting a silkie roo if necessary. I have had a few different types of roosters. By far my silkie is the quietest ive had. Hes the oldest(2yrs) and even when the other roos crow he does not join in. I have heard him crow twice in the entire summer. Maybe it was just him but silkies are known to be a quieter breed. Good luck with your search.

My Silkie roo is the loudest roo I've ever owned, hands down. That little turd would even crow in his sleep (I had to bring him inside for a week

). Good thing he was cute...

Thats surprising. I guess there are loud roosters of every breed:cd Maybe yours is the dominant roo or something.

Sheesh! I wish I could, but unfortunately all mine crow, I could show ya the one that crows the most and the one that crows the least, but I got none that don't crow at all. So I'm curious to as to what breeds don't crow?

Loudest and crow crazy boy I got is a black Silkie Roo, is name is MOUTH and the one that crows the least is my big ole Blue Orpington Zues If he was human he would be the one that walks softly, speaks softly and carries a big stick he rules the Roost for sure! LOL And Mouth talks all kinds of crap but can't back it up! LOL they crack me up.

i have a serama mix cockerel who doesn't crow...he squeaks! it's adorable and really quiet. i can't hear him unless i'm standing right next to him

I seem to have a 10 month Black Australorp who isn't crowing. I keep waiting but not a sound yet even though his tail is really coming in and his saddle and hackle feathers are gorgeous. I live in the city so it's nice to not have to get rid of another roo. We've had to get rid of 5.

I wonder if a non crower may be deaf or have a problem like mutism. Personally. Mutts would be genetically less inclined as breed purity in any critter brings on more problems.

I know this thread is a little old, but I went looking for an answer for why my own boy isn't crowing before posting a question.

I have a Cochin and he's just weeks shy of a year old (27th) and I have never heard him crow, now I'm not up early, but he doesn't crow during the day at all, that is for sure.
He also was my smallest chick and pecked a lot when younger.

So could it be breed since there are others who own Cochins and they don't crow? Could it be dominance? Not sure.

I'm planning on breeding him with a few of my girls for better genetics, so when I separate them into their own brooding pen will be interesting to see if he begins to crow.
