Show Me Your RUN!

CityChook... 13 weeks, wow, I have been trying to get my DH working on ours a little more because I think 6 weeks is getting pretty bad, I told him no problems with chicks in the house but Chickens... a little much. Your coop looks great. Everyones does thanks for all the ideas.

Like I said, my DH was not really happy with me by the end of summer. He was sick of working on MY coop and sick of birds in his house when he came in at the end of the day. We were very happy when it was all done.

really? there's a difference in your viewing pleasure depending on what time of wire you use? someone please elaborate.....

more runs more runs!!!!!

Darker colored wire is easier to see through, or moreover is harder for the eye to notice; so when you look through it the main focus is on what is within instead of what you're looking through.

I really want to thank everyone who's posted pics of their runs. Like I said, coops are covered like mad, but runs get little attention. It's really nice to see how everyone makes their runs and surely will help those looking to build their own coop (like I'm in the middle of) work through all the details, from inside to out.

Anyone else have a run to post? Would love to see!

I am still building our coop. Here's some pics of my grandma's run though. I took them when I visited her last week so I could get some ideas. The coop is roughly 6 by 8. As far as I can tell the run area is an uneven shape this is roughly 15-20ish by 15-20ish. The back corner walls are the side of a barn and the fence to the neighbor's place. there are three trees in the run and it holds 6 birds.

Ours is similar to RIVERA69R's. We also used blocks around the outside of the run instead of underground wire and currently have the chicken wire 3' high on the chain link walls. We plan to put chicken wire all the way to the top of the run to keep out the wild birds, but haven't gotten around to it yet. We live in the desert so we made sure to build it under shade trees.

I love all of these!
I did only the basic metal fence poles in the ground with poultry wire sagging around it. No cover over it but my runs are more for training the birds to get along with the flock that free ranges around them and is open to the coop.
Yes, some eventually fly over it but then will start mingling with the free rangers and that is what I want anyhow.
Or I have the bantam Cochin run made much the same way for when I have them in breeding. No one flies in and bantam Cochins can't fly out. The Faverolles stay in the coop with them at night but will sometimes fly out and free range, only to return at night to coop up with the Cochins. No roo with them so I suppose they think King is their main man.
