Show me your Runs!...please 😇

Oh really! Thats the last thing I would have expected 😂. I love the sky blue feet and he has some crazy cool feathers too!
Think that is some goofy reflection from the ramp but he does have some heavily feathered blu/grey feet and some awesome long legs. He needs a new home and a flock of his own! Wish you were closer, i'd talk you into adopting him lol

Hello Friends,

I was just curious to see your guy's Runs! How big, clutter, and set up.
Maybe to get some ideas for roofs and adding extra clutter (logs, old ladders, boulders, etc.)

Imitation is the finest form of flattery as they say. My run is done but adding onto or to it itself.

Mine is a 12W×48L (576sqft) I have some very old fallen cut trees with the branches attached. They have been dug and stuck into the ground with some rather large boulders (perks of working in a Landscaping company) I will be adding two grazing boxes with various types of vegetation growing for them to have access to. And a tin barrier along the bottom half of the run covering about half of it up until the bend in the elbow if you will. Going to be also putting in a small covered area next to the automatic chicken door. That way they can have a deep shade and protection against wind, rain, and snow, etc. View attachment 2568726
This is the view from inside the coop

This is the entire run from the side, excuse the dreadful horrendously depressing dead yard 😅 it's greening up now.

This is the main entrance to the run the "Big Door" if you will. Made it large so we could bring in a tractor or snow blower for winters sakes.

Show me your runs! Always looking for inspiration! 😁😁

We're in the city limits, which means we're limited on the number of chickens we can have. Still, I had a heck of a fun time building Fort Bocks to keep the predators out on days we're not around to let them free-range! The run was simple enough and they love using the side with the shingles to take cover from winter wind/summer sun and rain throughout the seasons. The perches in the open run don't get used as often as I thought they would, and they hardly ever use the swings, so I'm considering removing them and figuring out some other kind of perch, instead.

Our run is not very big, but we do tend to let them out into our backyard. (Which now consists mostly of mud, thanks to their digging)

we sometimes hang up a cabbage for them to peck at, and they really enjoy that.

We lost a chick early on to a snake or rat, so we made sure to make our run as predator proof as possible. (we also have a lot of predators in our area. One of our girls just got attacked by a hawk) there is hardware cloth around the outside base of the run, to keep digging predators out.

the roof is made of pvc, and when we plant tomatoes along the side, it is very nice and cool in the summer.

I love the cabbage idea, been thinking of doing that on days we keep them enclosed in the run.

For predators, we ended up building a frame under each run and filling it with soil, then building the run frame on top of it. Gives them 8-inches of soil to dig down into before they hit the hardware cloth and no predators can get in (not even rats)!

The run is really only used when things like this happen and the chickens choose not to tunnel out:View attachment 2569062
Otherwise, it is just an extension of the coop. It's 12'x28' with a solid roof and a 4'x8' extension off the back that houses the dust bathing area. When physically possible, they spend their day inside their pen. It is fenced in with poultry netting powered with a 10,000 volt/1.2 Joule output charger. The total area is about 1/3 acre.

But the coop also has a build-in brooder/maternity ward and 4'x8' outdoor area.

And I installed branches along the back of the run so the flock can preen and hang out there while they wait for me to let them out.View attachment 2569061
Omg. Y’all’s snow!!
