Folks are getting soft these days. I'm not sure why that is. None of the studies I've read have any solid evidence why.
The last of the Real men bout have all died out ,some guys cringe to be pecked pinched pulled or flogged ,I myself see it as being a Gmfwl man ,set the rooster on your knee get the best dubbing shears you can an dub the Rooster if you have a handle on him ,It can be done Alone ,but helps to have a good friend you can count on that will not hurt the bird but hold them firm enough for you to trust each cut .

Morning all!

Any thoughts on Kelso's? Do they comb pea and straight combed? Yellow or green legged? What's the difference, if any?

I have familiarity with some coming out of Kentucky from 30+ years back. Combs of those straight, yellow-legged, wheaton based, and very solidly built. They also had lots of white trim on tail sickles. They had a reputation as man-fighters. They also had a brittle feather issue, at least in the hands of parties that had them. When I got a few stags it was quick to noting they were not strong fliers. Those I have seen that were called Kelso's more recently did not have the brittle feather issue and their station was relatively high. They may not be the same anymore. Overall, they look like they have more Oriental inputs.

Love kelso that's my focus in the spring starting 2yrs ago breeding 2 daughters back to father

If I had to choose one game to raise it'd be kelso good all around rugged old school fighting chicken
Kelsos are very popular around my parts, not hard at all to get a hold of some.

They can be mean

Thanks for all the input! Yes, I remember the pics of yours SDM, but had forgotten about the temperament.

Centra, are the darker legs and pea combs coming from the oriental infusion?

The very solid build and station are what I think is infused. Some also come in that dark cherry red like sdm shows. I do not think there is a single strain of kelso today, rather many.
