I never knew australorps could come in blue.

Yes, they come in black, blue, splash, and white. The real white Australorps are the hardest one's to find, at least here in the US. I have the black, blues, and splash ones from a couple of breeders, and have been building up my flock from those. You need a splash with a black to make blue chicks.

Simple Colour Genetics For Black, Blue & Splash Australorps:

Splash: 2 blue genes
Blue: 1 blue gene and 1 black gene
Black: 2 black genes

Black x Black = 100% Black chicks
Black x Blue = 50% Black and 50% Blue chicks
Black x Splash = 100% Blue chicks
Blue x Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black and 25% Splash chicks
Blue x Splash = 50% Blue and 50% Splash chicks
Splash x Splash = 100% Splash chicks
