I love reading all these names that folks give to their chickens.
I have 11 assorted hens, starting with the eldest:
4 Bantam Silkies - Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey, Miss Marples, Julia Gillard ( after our Prime Minister)
2 Bantam Pekins - Henny Penny, Cinnamon,
1 Polish - Black Betty,
1 Australian Langshan - Ruby Twoshoes,
3 Isa Browns (Battery Rescue Hens) Clare, Bonnie and Lillian.
I used to have pet rats named after plants: Heather, Willow, Hazel, Holly.
My chickens are going to be named after Star Trek characters. Me and my fiance love the series, so why not? I just have to restrain myself not to build a coop resembling a star ship.. the neighbors would be scared.
My list so far:
Nyota
Ezri
Jadzia
T'pol
B'elanna
Nerys
Keiko
Molly
Lwaxanna
Leeta
Hoshi
Kes
Annika
B'etor
Lursa
Melora
Ziyal
Ishka
I'm not naming one Catherine.. and Next Gen's names are mostly just boring.
I'm only getting 6, but since I want to name them once I find out their personalities, I needed a long list
Rooster:
Mako (cus he stalks around outside in the morn waiting for his girl to come off the roost so he can jump each one. Hey, thats the cost of protection.)
Hens:
Storm (white hen after storm of X-Men)
Black Cloud
Deuce
Money Penny
Goldie
Nugget (no comb, just a cushion)
Black Beard (easter egger)
Frost (barred rock)
Shadow (black sex link)
Star (shes a red star and has a star pattern around her neck)
Phoenix (Black sex link with lots of fiery red on her chest)
My one chicken's name is Blackjack because I thought a pirate name would suit her , when she was a chick she had a block spot over her eye, like a eye patch.
