My heart goes out to Steven...he nursed Nugget to health when he hatched. Poor dear must be absolutely heartbroken.


I went out and kissed Thor and patted all my babies. I even told Thor about his daddy and about Nugget. Cheyenne is going to cry when I tell her, she just thought Nugget was amazing.

Today must not be a good day!! First Nugget...now, I too have just lost one of my Del babies.....uuuggghhhh. Colby just came running into the house screaming that there was "a hawk in the Dels pen". My first thought was "how the #$%^ could a hawk get in?" Its an 8x8 run, surrounded by 1" wire, including the top and reinforced with hog wire. Well, I forgot that we had not "laced together" the sections of wire we used when we covered the run and the darn hawks had "slid" in between the overlapped wire. AND, there was not 1 hawk but 2 in there!!!

Sneaky critters!!!

Well, the wire is now laced together so that won't happen again.

I guess it could have been worse with 2 hawks. I lost the one Del (pretty sure it was a lil roo) and one little black silkie.....

I sure hope the weekend gets better!!

Oh I am so sorry for your losses. Yard, I am glad they found the hawks before any more damage was done. That is scary how they got in there.
