Uhmmm :::looking around:::::: chaning the subject..

New pictures this week, update on the "do I breed them or start all over" questions.

What do you think of Biden's tail?

And lets have a guess at how many points he has. He was hatched on June 17th... so he should be showing about how many he is going to have now. I'm thinking 7? I know too many....but......., he's flopped in this picture but he isn't floppy all the time. I think it's because he just had his head in a bucket of feed. My husband was (laughing permitted) training all the chickens to eat from a new feeder on the scaffolding.

Here is a second but blurry pic...

This is Helen, I wanted a shot that would show how narrow I thought she was. She's the same age as Biden, hatched out on June 17th this year. You can see her hackles a bit in the shot too.

Sounds like a great flashlight! Do these super LED flashlights work better than ones made for candling? I bought a candler from GQF when I got some replacement parts for my second hand incubator. It works great. I didn't have any trouble doing my Silver Phoenix eggs with it. They are a cream colored egg though, not dark.

Right now the only eggs I'm planning to hatch though are Java's (a light cream) and Delawares.

I just candled some Black Copper Marans dark eggs with it. I couldn't exactly see veining, but I could see development. They are on day 12. I can not find my electric candleing light. I have misplaced it. I know I put it away where I would remember ... but I forgot where that is!

Oh gosh, I just got home, opened the post, started reading about "how many chickens..." "they will come"

I started doing mental math and the DH walks in. I had guilt written all over my face and he was like "what?"

THEY DO COME! No more of that stuff you guys! He'll ground me from the incubators

All the pictures are wonderful. Cetawin how did you keep them from pooping all over the Christmas tree?

OK ... Here are my 13 babies. They are 5 weeks old today. Tell me which ones are males and which are females. Yes, this is a test. You will be graded on accuracy! You get bonus points for identifying Midge and Tootsie. One is in there twice, but I don't know which one it is.

Ok... Keep in mind we are both up at almost 4 am.....

#2, #7,#8 and #13 are roos, and I'm guessing #1 and 11 are Tootsie and Midge.

2,7,8,9,14 are roos, Now...I'm guessing 7 and 10 for Tootsie and Midge. Maybe I'm closer on those two this time?
