They are on pages 59,62 and in the index on page 394

Then my book must not be a real SOP. Because I have standards of perfection on that page and a chart for all poultry. No listing for Dellys. Page 394 is Rose Combed Bantams.

I was worried that I had gotten the wrong book because it looks nothing like the one in the picture on the APA. I will have to message them and see if I can get the correct one

Does it have a gray cover with 2010 in Gold? I have no idea what you got.......previous editions of the SOP only have 371 pages or less and the ABA SOP has 291 pages.
I can't think of any other book the APA has with 394 pages. Did you buy this from the APA?

Looking at it more closely it looks like it's a reprint from an earlier version. Stinks because it cost 40$. I just ordered the new one.

Ouch! I nearly bought one of those, but fortunately saw the print date in time.

What earlier version wouldn't have Dels in it?

Not sure it's marked with a 2010 copywright and he title is the American Standard of Perfection. But it doesn't have dellys in any of the sections or in the index. It has 492 pages if you include the index.

I did a search of online booksellers and found a bunch of old SOP out there....some dating back to the early 1900s. After nearly ordering one I paid attention more to the cover....if it doesn't have the gray cover with gold on it, it's either a reprint or an old copy. Look carefully for the published date. Sorry you shelled out for the wrong book.

Quick question....

At what age would you say that del hens are supposed to be laying XL or Jumbo eggs? I have heard it mentioned that pullets lay smaller eggs, but I am curious to know if mine are undersized at 25 weeks old when they are medium to large.

Usually a hen will start laying the larger eggs in their second year of production. At 25 wks. yours are spot on in the med. to Lrg. range. And some hens don't ever lay the xls or jumbo sizes. Production types are the ones more likely to lay those huge eggs, generally.
I'm surprised that you are already getting large eggs at that young age too, its usually 2 to 3 months into production before the egg size increases from pullet egg size to a normal lg. size egg, they must be some big 'ol gals huh?

I haven't weighed any of the hens....I reported the weights of my roos the other day ranging from 6 lbs 10 oz down to 5 lbs 1 oz. My hens started laying at 19.5 weeks old, so they had an early start as well!
