Thanks for the compliment. We love our dogs to death. They are mans best friend, and the Delawares. My Dels are either 11 or 12 weeks old tomorrow. I have to check the calender.

No, That's not Sage. It's one of the Ideal chicks. Sage is a big girl now and she is in with the laying group. Not sure if Sage is laying yet, but Spike says he's a big boy and mounts the girls when Big Bopper isn't looking. Not a sound out of Spike yet, as far as crowing but he's acting like a big boy. I can get pics of Spike and Sage tomorrow when the sun is out. Sage is a lovely dark girl compared to the rest of my rocks. And, she still jumps on our shoulders to say hi and get treats.

When we hatched out that first batch of Dels, we ordered 12 chicks from Ideal. It was supossed to contain 2 RIR roos (that they left out of the order) 1 RIR pullet, 3 brown Leghorns, 2 EE's and 4 Rock pullets. We have all of them in with the Dels for now. Then the plan is to move the rocks and the Reds into the layer coop and the white or colored egg layers stay in with the Dels. That way we know what eggs belong to the Dels. Too many brown egg layers in our yard, and the Dels are the only eggs we plan on hatching.

ETA: At last count, we have 81 chickens right now. We'll be bringing that number down in the spring, and getting away from hatchery stock.

ETS: Cyn, I love your other boys. Zane and Dutch are beautiful boys, and Suede is just wow. I wish my boys would get that big, but for some reason they stay at toothpick size around here.

I have a solution for danged near any dog....the company is veteran owned and the owner is a very very nice gentleman with tons of experience and knowledge.

I purchased an electronic training collar for a very very stubborn puppy (9 months old) my great pyr/lab Casca. He would not listen...would run off...wander off...ignore you callig him and chase other dogs away but NOT stop when I called him back. It has 127 settings, a recall/pager and a 1/2 mile range. It has worked like a dream. I know that alot of bird hunters put these on their dogs when out hunting....you can buy this model in a 3/4 mile range and a 1 mile range as well.

Casca has tons of hair so his constant setting for minor correction is 55 - 60....let me tell you what happened at a higher setting. Picture the scene...me nightie and fuzzy slippers outside with puppy in the morning...NO COFFEE YET. Pitbull wanders into the yard and Casca gave chase and tackled the pitbull...I knicked him and he ignored it so I went to increase the setting a bit and ended up jacking it up to 100. When I knicked him again Casca was in a full run and it flipped him. Needless to say, the chase had stopped, he came back into the yard relieved to see Mama.

I keep his collar on but keep it turned off unless we are leaving the property and then it is only set at about 45, and he responds to it. I know you are job hunting now but consider it for the future...I highly recommend it. I put the collar fully charged in my hand and had DH zap me with it at 50....it got my attention and then some. I am one of those dingbats who has to know what her baby is going to feel before I would put it on him. Here is the link for it:

Thanks....I should have thought of that. We have those collars already. We raise beagles for hunting rabbits and we "collar" the younger dogs just in case they decide to run a deer or another "varmit"....haven't had them out in a while. Off to charge up the shock collars. Katie might be doing acrobatics in the AM (after I have a cup of coffee, and deliver the kids to school of course)
